How many people actually use skinning apps?

Thursday, November 28, 2002 by WolfwoodX | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm not talking about Winamp, or other programs like that, I'm talking about ObjectDesktop, Winstep, Tailsman, etc...

I use ObjectBar, and that is about it. I like 2000, but hate xp, but like the classic xp start menu. So ObjectBar is the only one I use.

Almost a strange question to ask on a skinning site. I have OB on my machine.

Just wondering. I have found no real use for the other apps, except IconPackager and ObjectBar. Now when that iconx thing comes out for desktopx or something, I'll use that.

Lets be serious, knowing how much people use apps in his own computers, let us know how much future or market have the apps, and a lot of things more, this is no kidding around, we the people, we the power, I mean the consumers or buyers need all the information related to this matter, because we have to know a lot of things at the moment of buying some product and any number around this have some significance.

This is my point of view, lets see who joins or not

people dont want the normal everyday blandness of life especially when u are on teh computer alot then u get alot of gray, nothing against the color gray but it is really boring if you are staring at it for 4 hours of day, then you get into im tired of the way this looks i want something new, ( ie litestep) who needs a start bar, Skinning is for the people who are trired of everyday looks and want something new. Just my opinion

Old Crab uses Iconpackager. Windowblinds and Mercurys' WK2 skin. All the other stuff just confuses the old crab. (OC has the whole kit and kaboodle and doesn't know what to do with it all). Wish Stardock would publish a comprehensive tutorial instead of the bit and pieces now available. Might even pay for it.

I generally lean toward applications that add functionality. I replace my shell, and skin other apps where the skin has a beneficial effect to thier use. I like the fact that the more advanced scripting is allowing skin makers to add usefulness or streamline the usability.

I'm getting back into the 'skinning for appearance sake' thing though. Faster computers with cheap ram have a lot to do with that, though.
