Small aside...
Wednesday, November 27, 2002 by Angel_Wings | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I don't belong here, I realize that now after interacting with more folks who HAVE and WILL belong here long after moi. There are plenty of good folks here (don't get me wrong) but it seems the meek get trampled easily by the strong.
No biggy. I tried to feel at home here but the cold shoulders seem to be the most resident aspect that makes me feel unwelcome...Like I'm trying to fit into an "old boys" club and "Lady, you ain't welcome" but we'll "tolerate" your presence if we must. I don't regret spending the 70 bucks because I'm not one to bitch and moan over small change. I never sought affirmation any more than would seek derision but after all this time, just makes me a wee bit sad that I feel as if I'm one of the "un-embraced" (not an actual word btw).
I suppose the kind Leo Bakerstreet (Auggie) himself would call this "drama" but I never took an acting class and drama is not on my mind.
I just hope, that my bucks went to somebody who damned well deserved it.
Say goodnight Gracie...
"Good-night Gracie"
Happy thanksgiving

. I think the main worry about the wallpaper section is that it could overwhelm the rest of the site. Most sites that have wallpapers and skins tend to end up wallpapers mainly.I like wallpapers. But I also like skins. My nightmare scenario is coming to the site and seeing all the new additions and updates being wallpapers and not being able to easily look at new skins.
A good wallpaper is worth the risk though. I wish we didn't have to moderate them because there are so many good ones that end up rejected and sometimes a crummy one will get through the cracks making the whole system look inconsistent and biased or worse, elitist.
And it's elitism I really have the biggest problem with (it's one of the reasons why I am active on lots of sites, I don't like the whole "developers and CEOs of software companies stay above the fray and never interact with people...").
Anyway, I like the crowd we have here usually. It's a bit more mature than most sites (and I mean that both subjectively and literally -- average age here is around 30 years old which is amazing on a site with 1.2 million unique people visiting each month).
