Verrückt (crazy) indeed. 17 story high water slide opens and...promptly closes.

These people are certifiable.

It's called "Verrüct" for good reason. Verrüct translates as "insane" (German).

Okay. Here's the view from the top. I 'shopped' nothing...nothing, to paraphrase Sgt. Schultz.

Where is this kiddy ride? Kansas City.

Everything went without a hitch until the end of the ride. Then, it launched people into the air...the last hump is 5 stories high.

Don't folks do math anymore? At the end of the ride you're guaranteed a minimum velocity of 65 mph (104.61 kph). No one mentioned the top limit.

Do those sides look a bit low? And if the water is pumped in from the highest points (makes sense), then how much accumulates at the lowest points (making the sides even lower)?

Well, it closed down before it really got going since the ride really isn't about catapulting humans...I think.

Enjoy the weekend...

They actually had people try it out?  Or dummy's like the auto companies do for testing crashes?

Put bluntly!   Bloody idiots!

It never ceases to amaze me that these idiots [and other ride builders] do anything and everything to make their attraction higher, longer, faster and give little or no consideration to the rigors on the human body.... the harm and injuries that result from their lunacy.

I saw a young man come off a high speed water slide and severely break both his legs [among other things] upon impact.  The ride should have been closed back then, but it is still open and other injuries have since occurred.

My mother went on a roller coaster because nobody else would go on with one of the grandkids... next day she was black and blue with bruising after being thrown around under forces the human body is not designed to take.

So I repeat... BLOODY IDIOTS!!!

Actual people, Barb.

starkers...100% correct. Adrenalin addicts.

Ridiculous, but some probably consider it a challenge. So's playing soccer in a mine field.

I would imagine the price of insurance coverage would be nearly as high as the slide.

To the designers/builders, I have six words.......computer simulation first, live meat last.

That reminds me of the first time I went to the Brisbane Show [The EKKA as it's known in Queensland].  I refuse to ride on such contrivances so my sister went on this hellish ride with my then girlfriend.... BIG mistake!   Something was bound to go up [apart from the ride itself] after a feed of hotdogs, ice creams and coke, etc.... and sure enough, it did.  Being they were first in the queue for that particular ride, all to the rear of them copped a spray of the EKKa's unfinest cuisine from the pair of them as the ride spun frantically up and down, round and round.

I only ever went a second time... and only because my then missus blackmailed me with... uh, never mind.   From then on I point blank refused to go... regardles of the threatened consequences. Firstly, it costs way too much and I hate standing in queues just to be ripped off at the other end; secondly, I don't/won't go on the stupid rides anyway; thirdly, I don't give a fech which livestock animal wins the blue ribbon; fourthly, the food is crap and I'd rather eat at home for an 16th of the price.  There's probably a multitude of other reasons, but these days my excuse is that I'm too old and wouldn't be able to keep up [with the young uns]

We have a lot of those here in Oz... idiotless villages.   Yup, the idiots they had ventured forth and migrated to parliament house in Canberra.

Coney Island Brooklyn NY. A ten minute bus ride from my house. Back then the roller coaster dubbed 'The Cyclone' was 'the' ride to do. I did it once and that was it. Its a shrimp compared to other pics I've seen.
