Wincustomize front page

Thursday, May 15, 2014 by teddybearcholla | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Both Chrome and Firefox, Wincustomize's front page is missing thumbs. It has been this way for a couple of months. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue?  This is the only website where I have that problem and it is the only problem I have in viewing Wincustomize.

Thanks for any ideas.

I saw that problem a few months ago but it seemed to go away on its own.  Thumbnails show properly now.  Maybe they rely on a plug-in that you have (and I had) disabled?

Thank you gevansmd, I will look into the plugins and see if that is the culprit!

The extensions to look at are Adblock/Adblock Plus and DoNotTrackMe (or DNT+), Barb.

Just whitelist wincustomize.com in whichever you have (or both).

Yep, AdBlock will turn off all that stuff, you need to exclude WC from being blocked and it will be fine.

It has been this way for a couple of months.

What took you so long to ask?

I'm patient, and I thought it would just go back the way it was.

Nah, tell the truth now!  It was a case of "is it just me" and wos too afraid to ask... just in case it wos.

Yup, that's what happened peeps... but curiosity got the better of her - ain't that right, Barb - and she just had to ask.

How do I know this?

Cos I've had dozens of those "is it just me" moments... when I've waited, and waited.... and waited... then waited some more...  in the hope somebody else would ask the [oft times embarrassing] question first.

Like the time I was worried why my toilet rolls were running out so fast.  I didn't want to have to pose the question just in case it was my huge arse that was consuming wadfuls of it every time I had to go mumber 2's.  Turns out TP manufacturers were short-sheeting the rolls - which in one way was a relief, being I didn't wanna have to admit it was my ravenous arse - and so the saga of the missing TP began.

well Captain, it could be that too!!!

About your TP problem, it is a well known fact that the companies that make TP decided to *thin the paper* itself and shorten the rolls, then raise the price! It is better for the environment and septic systems....they say!!!

Could be?  I've been on the wrong side of that "is it just me" equation too many times not to recognise another case of it..

BTW, did I mention how grateful I am for your bringing this up this issue before I felt compelled to?

Hehe, damned TP manufacterers will tell you anything to try justifying cheap-skate cost cutting... better for septic systems my arse.

That's like Nescafe only putting 200g in a 500g container and saying it's better for your sleep patterns.

Yup, there's something very wrong with the world when companies charge the same or more for less product, then try to tell you it's good for you.

There may well be instances of when less is more... but not when you're paying for it.

It's all legalised theft I tell ya... legalised theft.

If it's legal, it isn't theft. ..by definition.

I have been having the same problem.  I just disabled adblockplus on this site and now it is back normal.

Thanks for the solution.

That'd be right!  Trust you to come along and prove us wrong with some explanation from a dictionary....

Can't you let folks have just a little fun?

Anyway, I don't care, it's theft one way or another... haven't quite figured out how to categorise it, but it's theft with a capital S for stealing under falserer pretenses.
