Skin path points to installation folder but it is not there.

When I install SMX skins now in the configuration window of smx it says that the skin is located in the skins installation folder but it actually is not there. The only skins in the themes folder is the default themes. The themes show up in smx and I can load them but I cannot find their folders even with a search. View the picture below. Note where smx says the background image is located and then look at the themes directory on the left and you will see there is no theme with that name.

Anyone experience anything like this. Just to get the Windows 8 haters to chime in I will say I am using Windows 8.

Have you looked in app data or program data? I don't use SMX but  a lot of programs like to stick things there. BTW, if that isn't a 64 bit program, those files may even be in ProgramFiles(x86)

I sure did and was unable to find the folders. Normally they go into the installation folder and smx is telling me they are there but they are not. I know they are somewhere on my computer because I can load the skins. It is funny a search is not finding them.

And why do I get these crazy green words that point to adds when I type certain things? must be a way to turn that off.

I have had this with a few smx skin installs , in my case the folders property had become set to hidden during the install some how.

Have you done a search to see where windows says they are?

I just found where they are being installed at, C:\Users\KJC\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SysMetrix\Themes

What can I do to make them install in the default themes folder?

first of all, try showing hidden files/folders.

i don't use Windows 8, but i suspect it uses hardlinks or junctions here to keep %ProgramFiles% clean (it is good Windows finally does that).

if that is the case, then leave it as it is. once the hidden "files"/"folders" are visible, it should not make a difference in day to day use.

Thanks moshi but I do have files and folders visible. What I am finding is that when I install a smx skin it creates a folder called virtual store in my application data. I deleted that folder and tried to install another smx skin and that folder was recreated. So inst4ead of my skins being installed here C:\Program Files\SysMetrix\Themes (which is where they were always installed with Windows 7) they are now installed here, C:\Users\KJC\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SysMetrix\Themes

It is harder to get to the files to edit but I guess a work around would be to make a shortcut. I just find it strange that this Virtual Store folder is being created when I install the skins.
