Suggestions for 2014 WC Community Project
Tuesday, February 4, 2014 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
The last community skin we did was the Holiday Community Suite back in 2009. I wouldn't mind doing another winter holiday suite, but that's for later in the year.

So lets start getting ideas for the next community suite. Do we go for a season like Spring or Summer? Another holiday? A different type of theme?
Lets hear it and discuss it and get moving on the next one.

Uvah, have a question on Rainlendar, which version do I need to run it? I'm using v2.11 Lite and it's not looking right, Sat and Sun dates look like both over reqular, seeing a double image. Question on SysMetrix, what do all the little buttons do or am I just supposed to press each one? Oh, I'm on Windows 7.

This thread is moving fast and I'm behind. Is there any skins needed that doesn't have someone doing it?

You'll need version 0.21. I don't do the newer one because its such a pain in the rear. As for the buttons, I usually include six as standard, web browser, control panel, etc. There are also six that are for external programs like ASC, MalwareBytes, Photoshop and the like. The four next to where it says HTML are for the color charts included with the skin. The red one calls up Xion and the ones next to it are for the media player.

Okay Uvah, I have both 0.21. and the newest version and the dates for the weekend (Sat & Sun) running on the older versions looks the same. I will do a SS and add it here.

c'mon DT... the finish line is in sight....
my critique was to help ya.. not have you drop it...
I like the idea of the tan/orange idea for the centre as a change.....if you need help with the colour picking from the taskbar button... I'll take a range and put up here for you to choose from...
Edit... like so...
(could be good colours for the transparent one also..)

I know "Christmas Holidays" is a bit ahead of itself and you asked for suggestions..."right?"
I do have a request... Since most of our designers are men and (from that comment...u got it... I AM WOMAN)
Over the past 10 or 15 years that I've spent so much $$$$ with Stardock, premium themes and even sponsored many of the best talents here.
I (being a WOMAN) was wondering why so many of the projects are always so "dark" in content, theme and design? The world is full of color and things that make us feel good or even feel so sort of optimism...
For all or you wonderful and talented people... could you find it in your spirits to create something "light, airy and colorful"?
Some or WinCustomize's best & greatest designers are men. That does not mean you have to be "?????" to lighten the world with color.
U All - I do appreciate all of your "talents, imagination and spirits"!

JJ930 - I see you may be a fan of Tinker Bell, and/or her Fairy friends? If so: Me too! I shan't admit to my two Tinkerbell tattoos, though.
Have always wanted to make a Tink theme for myself (personal use) but it's so much work as to make it defeating for me, so I stick to smaller projects: Ie: Wallpapers. But I agree on the color thing. Adore it. Vibrant bursts of robust color: Nature in a nutshell. I'd like to, someday, do a kind of fusion suite of two elements: Natural (rocks, stones, grasses, et al) and synthetic (brushed metals, concretes, steel, et al). I think it'd be an interesting, tactile, organic experience.

Quoting doortech1, reply 358Uvah, nice work, see ya got it covered.Gonna just play around with mine. Brian, finish yours. They are both different, I for one want to have choices. As of right now there are 4 wallpapers, Neones', Jims' 2 and mine. The more the better. So don't quit now or your friends just might photoshop you !!!
I will echo what teddybearcholla said, each skinner will take a different look or approach of how the may make a particular skin. What this means is the community gets to see how you can use the provided graphics and still be unique.
