Windows XP land...

Wednesday, January 8, 2014 by kona0197 | Discussion: Personal Computing

Well looks like one of my memory sticks went bad so I am down to one gig of system memory. Decided to reinstall Windows XP. I know it has a end of life coming up, but it will work for now. Just got out of the hospital so I'm a bit tired. Turns out I have diabetes.

The Doctors are not sure if I have type 2 or type 1. At this point we are still adjusting my insulin injections so my blood sugar stays low.

As for the computer, it may need to wait till I get some extra cash for a memory upgrade. Then I think I will go back to Windows 7.

Kona, I'm no expert, but I am a diabetic, have several family members who are, as well. Including a great nephew who is Type-1.

I can tell you that almost always, Type-1 is childhood onset. So, if you have Type-1, you would probably have been diagnosed years ago.

Chances are extremely good that you have Type-2.

Syd is correct. In prepping for my Sleeve Gastrectomy, I came off all my Diabetes meds via diet and exercise.

Yeah I think I'm type 2. Right now the Doctors have me on insulin, two different types. Trying to get the blood sugar lowered and under control. I have been exercising and losing weight. I also deal with slep apnea so that's the other thing I am dealing with right now.

As for the computer I forgot how basic XP can be compared to 7 so I've had to relearn how to use the computer all over again. But I have internet and my tunes so life is good.

Well thanks to a good friend here on WC I am back to using Windows 7. Thank you so much! You know who you are. Looking at upgrading the CPU sometime soon so I may take Starkers advice and move on to Windows 8.

As for my diabetes it's been tough controlling my glucose levels. I have had to switch to a new diet but old habits die hard. Still learning how to eat sensibly. It's tough!! But yeah, I'm doing OK and feeling good.

Not specifically related to diabetes, but when you change your diet the body always feels worse before it feels better. It's used to eating crap food and "starves" without it. Usually takes about 2 weeks, then it'll disappear. Of course it's not as simple as that when you're also fighting a new disease, that can make you feel worse as well (so don't ignore any signs).
