Trillian Pro?

Monday, November 4, 2002 by ToeJo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Is Trillian "Pro" really better than Good ole Trillian. Just wondering if anyone was using it and if not, what you would reccomend?

Actually, it's $25 yearly, or $5 for three months after. Personally, I think it's expensive, but I still use it.

~ The one big bonus with pro is the ability to use the available plugins. There are weather, pop3 mail checker, stock tickers, MANY news tickers, among others. The skins available are much more advanced and give you multiple skins within a skin. It's really pretty cool.

Of course, the same things are available for Microsoft Instant Messenger for free.

Though why anyone would want to use that product is beyond me

I never could understand why people would want those things in an IM, but oh well. When I want the weather, I go to my weather web site, when I want to read my mail, I switch to my email program...

the only reason i use (or even allow) microsoft instant messenger to load is that it is the only program i have tried that allows a "phone" conversation between 2 PC's.

however, it is prone to randomly disconnecting, and is a pain to get the connection set up in the first place

still, something is better than nothing *sigh*

I long switched to Trillian (free version) for everything. I don't hand out my phone number any more, just my IM name.

Besides, with my being online just about all the hours I'm awake, it's not like people can call me anyway

Here's the best reason to use it: The memory footprint of it, is smaller than ICQ by itself. Nevermind running 3 or 4 messangers.

Plus it has lots of features that the others dont give you.....and no banner ads.

Malakai....your reference to code changing sounds like warez to me.
That is and has been grounds for exclusion from this site.

The requests for, or promotion of warez, serialz and/or cracks will have you Exiled for failing to respect the standards of this site's community.

Many members/people here are infact the programmers/creators of these same products and do not need, or deserve having their legitimate rights to a livelihood undermined.

Please bear this in mind...

but i'm talking about altering the code to make it less restricted ie: no voice support, no camera support and so on

Malikai...OK, but bear it in mind that generally, code-hacking violates the product manufacturer's/author's copyright.

Similarly it is 'interesting' that there's a willingness on one hand to 'modify' code, and on the other hand your installation of OD trashed your system.

Perhaps your code altering skills were a bit lacking?...

i never altered od and i only alter to add support for other programs that let me use my mic or camera

and i get a good idea of the code before i start changing it
