Help For a Community Member?
Friend in need.
Thursday, August 1, 2013 by RedneckDude | Discussion: Community
Hey skinning community members!
Once again I have come to ask for help for a friend of ours who is in need.
We all realize that times are hard for everyone and not everyone can help. So please don't feel like I'm asking you to help if you are bad off yourselves.
I am, however asking that anyone who can, and wishes to, help Wizard1956 with a small donation, please PM him, or myself for more info.
He and his wife are both without income, any at all, and they are looking at eviction. Their rent will accrue a $30 late fee every 5th day that they're late. On day 10, the water gets cut off. They own the trailer, so even if the get evicted, they'll still have to pay lot rent until they can move the trailer. And trailer moving is expensive.
They are very close friends of Mine and Lisa's, and we are trying to get our church to help, My inlaws are pledging some money, but in total, I need to help Wiz raise $281.00. I have asked my Pastor if we could hold a special offering, or maybe I could raffle off some of my tools, or something.
OK, all that said, I'm writing this because Wizard1956 feels badly, knowing that everyone has problems of their own, and that yall were so good to him a few winters ago. He can't bring himself to ask.
Ok guys, last time I did this I got bad comments and flack from disgruntled members. I am willing to risk that to help someone I call a best friend.
Anyone wishing to help, please do. Anyone not wishing or not able to help, please don't feel like you'll be judged if you don't. You won't.
Again, we all know that many people are in bad shape.
We all came together in the past to help Wiz, and Kona, and Uvah. I'm sure there have been more that this community has helped.
Again, please know that I'm only asking for help from those who can, and want to, and I don't mean to guilt anyone or anything like that.
Any flack can be directed at me...lol...
.
Please PM me or Wizard1956 if you have questions. Post here if you just wanna tell Wiz you'll send good thoughts, or whatever you might wanna say to him.

Hey Jim, about that wall. I realize that I don't visit daily but I don't recall a community wall for this year. Did I just miss it or...?

I definitely must have missed it too Jim. When was it announced?

Thank you for all the kind words and moral support. It really means a lot to us.
You guys and gals are great!

No one missed anything. I just changed the date on the old 2008 wall I made back then.
I posted it because of what it stands for, not because of who is on it.
It may have been a bad idea as it has brought up a few queries. It was posted as a symbol of our community spirit. Maybe we could do a new one if there is interest?
Anyway, thanks again for all the help, guys and gals!!!!

Wizard my heart
goes out to you and yours, I'm sorry that words of support is all I can give, the first things I thought of when I read all the kind responses was a passage for the Great Book only to uplift your heart. " Love is longsuffering and kind. It does not keep account of the injury, It bears all things believes all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS." Their's a lot of love showing here I hope it helps to bring a moment of peace to you and your family.

My suggestion would to probably change the date back to the original or change "wincustomize" to "redneck dude's"
There are several of us missing from your altered wall and while I would be disappointed if WC dissed many of their contributors, coming from you, eh...

Ok, enough is too much! I'm gonna just remove the wall because no one is seeing it in the spirit in which I posted it.
Good grief people, get a grip. It is about community spirit, not about who is on it. If it were about who's names are on the wall, it would only list those who have helped or otherwise posted on this thread.
You guys totally missed the point.

I don't think Jim's embellishment was meant to confuse or exclude anybody. It takes a lot of bricks to make a wall, each brick just as important as the next.
Maybe we can make an updated wall some time soon.

Wizard, you should be receiving any moment, DT1.
That wall was cool, put it back. Come on guys, the people who visit WC know who you are, very well probably, and we who live here certainly know what you contribute for art and general help. That wall is nit big enough either. Lets admire it for it and make a new one sometime for updated members. Smile, life is short.

Randi...just curious...but why don't you ask social services for help? Since neither of you are working and are obviously in need, I have no doubt you would qualify for cash and food stamp help. You could probably get around $500 in cash and around $200 in food stamps. The help is there just for people like yourselves and I'd rather see you guys get the help instead of someone abusing the system. Can't hurt to at least ask.
Just a few days ago I got a letter informing me that my food stamps went up to $200...but I knew it was a screw up. So I called and got it straightened out...but during the call she explained to me how that happens all the time and I was one of the few people that actually called to fix it. So go for it bud...like I said it can't hurt but sure could help.

Both are fine suggestions. We qualify for $17 a month in food stamps. (not a typo)
There is rent assitance but it's first come-first served and funds are limited. We got in line too late for this monrth We're still trying for it for next month.

Every state is different. I was forced to apply when I had to put in for disability and was told I qualified for zip, zero, nadda.
AND don't think I don't know how a lot of folks feel about food stamps and thinking some folks feel 'entiltled'.
Until you have been there............
Taking any kind of help is difficult. Especially when you were raised that the man/husband/father should provide, always, no matter what. If it weren't for a few folks on this site, I don't even want to think where I would be right now and I'm not talking about homeless. I'm talking about the depression, fear, and worst..the desperation that comes with being in a situation where you feel all control has been wrestled away from you and you feel helpless.
You guys are some of the best. People I have never even laid eyes on or had the honor or pleasure to shake hands with, that don't know me half as well as someone I might work with every day but still are willing to give the shirts off their backs for. With this in mind, it bugs me...IRKS me...when petty crap gets in the way. It's times like that that I just close my eyes and think of all the folks that reach out, no questions asked, no strings attached and ignore the ones that seem to go out of their way to look for ANYTHING to make an issue of.
So...I wish I could help. Your in my prayers (or my version of prayers. anyway). I know you'll be okay. We are, after all, survivors if nothing else. It takes a strong person to go through this kind of stuff once, let alone a second or third time without throwing there hands up and checking out.
Hope I didn't offend anyone. I'm going through my own crap and I guess it's easier for me to feel the pain of anyone else going through it. I don't know whats worse...feeling like I can't help myself or feeling like helpless because I can't help the guy standing next to me.
