Just haven't heard from you in a bit, wanted to say hi. Oh and the fan on the PSU is going out, not sure how to fix that. Thought you might have some advice. Wonder where Starkers is at? Hope he is OK.

They probably got tired of reading your crap, so they don't post as often.

You know WOM I understand you don't like me. I can't change that, so be it. That doesn't give you permission to treat me like dirt every chance you get. Besides, you are a moderator. Your supposed to have a better attitude. If you don't like my posts, by all means, do me a favor and ignore me.

On the other hand if your post was meant to be funny, use some smileys. Thanks.

Ditto. Maybe they just got overwhelmed by all the grandkids. Nothing like a houseful of rugrats to keep you occupied.

Cap'n and Mrs Starkers, I hope all is well and you are just taking a break.

Replace the whole thing. If it has enough hours on it to have worn out the fan, it has seen better days.

Not enough hours on it to have it go bad. If you recall it was brand new a few months ago and I turn off my machine at night.

Then it should still be under warranty.

RMA the thing if the fan is failing .......before it isn't.

I can't. I was a gift from DoorTech. And how would I run my computer while I wait for a new PSU?

An average quality PSU isn't that much Terry. Just bite the bullet and get a replacement before it fails, overheats and takes the rest of the rig with it.

P.S. Good time to check those smoke detector batteries.

In the meantime, if you have an extra case fan, maybe you can zip-tie it to the psu/rear of case to help cool it.

Where be the Cap'n? Nowhere near Edward Snowden, Wally nor Carmen Sandiego.

The Cap'n be where all good Pyrates be. Where 'X'  "Mark"s the spot!

PSU fans can usually be replaced...but you'd need to 'open the box' and thus void warranty. A 'good' fan would likely cost you 20 - 30 ....and an entire PSU isn't a lot more...

I would just open the psu , cut the two wires , remove the fan, put in a used one, tape it in if I had to, and twist the new wires to the old , tape the wires, call it a fix. Or, buy a new psu. I would not invest in just a fan, as Jafo said , the cost would be close to each other. I run a 1000watt, a bit pricey, yours, twenty bucks from tiger direct. You get what you pay for though . Thought you had a backup from Ace? Still working at your job, curious is all as to your financial position. Mine sucks, but , always has.LOL.  If I find one at work , if, I may send your way.Brian. Smiley enough? Now, find Starkers.I too hope they have just been avoiding the crap or just busy and not having bad times.

What Jafo said. I've changed out many PSU fans in my career. Just be carful handle with care. Watch them sharp edges on the PSU they will slice you open.
