The World War Zed thread [OK, 'Zee']
Sunday, June 23, 2013 by Jafo | Discussion: Movies & TV & Books
Saw it today....Terry spent a lot of time 'hiding'....she enjoys Zombie movies.....
It was good, we both enjoyed it.
Movies re Zombies, Vampires, and such always make me wonder....is there a book of 'rules' by which everyone MUST follow...re how to kill/avoid/beat/etc such critters?
I hear tell they don't actually exist so are the 'creation' of someone's imagination....
....but I could be wrong....![]()

The fundamental rule of all monster fiction is simple: Your best friend will probably end up killing you.

World War Z a movie based on a book from an American author. So if you want to get nit-picky........then Zee is correct. However, the director of the film is German born, so perhaps it's pronounced Sett ![]()
Whatever the case, there are many dialects of the English language and both Zed and Zee are acceptable pronunciations of the letter Z.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z
I quote: "In most dialects of English, the letter's name is 'zed' /ˈzɛd/, reflecting its derivation from the Greek zeta, but in American English, its name is 'zee' /ˈziː/, deriving from a late 17th century English dialectal form."

I can see 'Z' pronounciation along with 'religion' and 'politics' ...... being forbidden in the WC forums...

Sorry to hijack this thread (not really) but while finding the above, I came across this gem.
Beats the hell out of any zombie movie.

I haven't seen a movie in over 2 years at a theater. No one can come up with anything that is truly original. The only movies I might be interested in when they come out is White House Down or The Lone Ranger.

Who can afford to see a movie in a theater these days?

What do you call ridiculous prices over there.

Local online prices for adult ticket for WWZ=$12.50
The wife and I have better things to spend 25 bucks on....like food.

Here, it's $ 9.75 for the adult ticket. $8.00 for popcorn, and $5.00 for a drink. $32.50 for two adults with concessions.
We do it, occaisionally, but it is a luxury.
