I am looking for a Tablet.

I am looking to get a tablet that will works as a e-reader also.
Most of my friends have to Nook HD but, with all the talk of the demise of the BN Nook division at the end of 2014 would it really make sense to buy one now?
Any one have any suggestions?

worth putting pennies aside for.... but it all depends what you really want to do with it... I'm sure the others do a decent job too...

We have all upgraded from the ipad to the nexus 7 and we are not disappointed. We love our Nexus 7's

And no drm s**t, no itunes, no need to jailbreak, no crap rooted all over your pc. With our Nexus 7's we simply put them back to back and swap goodies.
We love our Nexus 7's

From everything I've read, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the android tablet to buy this year. The price may be a tad steep, though.

In the US that is.....looks like it's just about the same as the Galaxy note here in Norway but much better (that may just mean that the Samsung is overpriced here).
Edit: well everything is overpriced here......the cheapest I can get the Sony Xperia is 3990 krowns (700 USD) That's 200 bucks more than in the US!

Just be really careful...there's a lot of Android OS malware out there.
Tim...$500 and only 16GB storage... kinds steep, but then, that's Sony.

The problem with buying 3rd party Android is that they usually come packed with bloatware. That's why we went with Nexus, nice and squeaky clean and updates are immediate.

Just a reminder. If considering a Nexus 7 the latest and greatest second version will be released within the next month or two. Worth the wait for the new features.

My only complaint with the Nexus 7 is the 7. My 10" is actually barely big enough.

I've been very happy with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 with cellular service. I have the Nexus and I have to agree with the comments about waiting until the next one comes out. This one simply eats battery power and since I don't live at Starbucks, I feel as if I'm tethered at home with it.

I just got a Nook. Now there is talk of getting rid of the Nook division? Figures.
I'm totally feeling you. I bought my nook earlier this year in January, now they are talking getting rid of it due to lack of sales. They even fired the president that was responsible for the production of it. I'm thinking it's time to go back to ipad. It just works for me.

I opted for the Galaxy Phone over the iPhone... but the iPad over the rest after my researching...
it really is a ripper.... 6 months on and still lovin' it...
