Problem when tiling windows in most skins.

Hi,

The problem is that when I have two (or more) windows open and I "tile [them] horizontally" (or vertically), the windows do not cover the whole screen. There are gaps above the tops of each window.

I am guessing it has something to do with the rounded edges.

I am running windows 2000 and I want to know if others have this problem in XP.

If so then skinners should watch their code, and not cause this problem.

I am a registered user of object desktop, so I can (though I am not net very skilled at it) hack my way into skins if I want.

If this is not a problem in XP, then I would like to know what part of the skin controls this, so that I can fix it on the skins I load on my machine. Also, still, skinners should watch out for this if they really want to make people happy.

There are areas in most skins that are transparent and may force the window to appear as if doesn't fit properly. This is especially so if someone is use to the default windows that fit oh so snuggly. There are many skins that have square edges w/o transparency which you might want to install and see if that solves the riddle.

yeah some with square edges fit snuggly -- I was wondering if there is a way to fix the ones which don't

The transparency in some skins is what adds to its uniqueness. If your preference is for square fitting skins then it would be best to stick with those. There are only a million to choose from.

The reason is that those skins are using UIS2, which allows the flexibility but which causes this problem. MS had this problem too - they had to add special handling for Windows XP (and WindowBlinds uses it, so with that OS it's not a problem). You either have to put up with it, upgrade or use only UIS1 skins.

thanks TGR, That was the answer I was looking for -- and I do really like the transparency, just have to decide if its worth the lost screen real estate.
