Help regarding task and toolbars

Thursday, September 12, 2002 by bjdbrad | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I looked for a search function and couldnt find one so I apologize if this is asked often here. I would like to set up my own windows. Not packaged as a theme but just controlling the individual parts. What I think I can do is Wallpapers, Icons, cursors, sound, what I have no idea about is a simple program to change the color of my task and toolbars. My main concern is that Green Start button in xp. I know I can lose that by using windows classic but there are some aspects of xp theme that I like.

I looked at Windowblinds a little while ago and it was a bit over my head. Does something like object bar do this? The problem I find with most of these programs is that they get into to many different things which I am sure is fine for the power users of the world but confuses us mini minds out here.

While I enjoy the themes created by many of you and will continue to use them I would just like to expand my capabilities a little.

Thanks in advance

Brad

Object bars might work for you. I love the ones I use, I found The QNX bars and never looked further. You can program them to take on the colors of the windowblinds you use. There are all kinds of settings, you can hide the windows taskbar and start menu or use it. You just have to play around a lot. It took me some time to get control of them.

But I am not sure this answers your question, I am kind of a novice with all this.

Or you can build your own, it seems easy enough but I never did it.

If I understand Brad's question correctly OB does do what you are looking for. It would be better in conjunction with Windowblinds in my opinion. Click on the OB library and take a look at the screenshots in there. Is there anything in there that resembles what you would like to accomplish?

Thanks for the responses.......I will have a look at the library....the thing I am never sure of in these libraries is if I am looking at object bar alone or with three other applications ....such as what good morphing related to "works great with windowblinds".....I guess I should look at windowblinds again it was very early in my explorations about changeing desktops that I looked at windowblinds but like I said it was a bit over my head at that point........

bjdbrad-- Saw your message on the other thread so I thought I would clarify a little. I do not use object bar so I cannot answer a question on that. I try to answer questions on what I use , so that my answers will be correct. I bumped your thread up so that someone would see it and answer it. Just be cool and you will get the help you seek but not in the time frame you always want.
