anyone having problems with WB smart buttons?

in the "Starone to Feline (re Menu)" thread, DavidK said that he was also having problems with the quick launch smart button in Window Blinds.
however, he didnt show up again so we didnt make much progress.
for a short while we did get these working on werewolf's machine, but it has broken again, and werewolf doesnt have the time to investigate further at the moment.
is there anyone else out there with these sort of problems? i think we have half the fix, and i am curious to know if i am right

so it got screwed up on a win2k machine, but not the xp machine. Hmmm. I don't think I could summarize this whole ordeal to present it to stardock...I'll just reference this thread.

i havent yet tried rebooting either the win2k or winXP machine. that will happen tommorow. there are still some tests to try, but it is quite clear that it does go wrong.

all right, on my work win2k machine, i have now removed OE from the PATH.
first, without rebooting, this didnt fix smart buttons. that was strange since NO reboot was required to break smart buttons, but i wasnt that worried yet.
i have now just rebooted! OE is NOT in my system path, but smart buttons still dont work!
further experiments are clearly called for, but something very strange indeed is going on here!

well, i am not planning on uninstalling OE, since i origionally installed it simply because i am fed up with notepad.
also since i dont use smart buttons, i can live without them. i just dont like being told i cannot do something >

well, my latest interesting idea didnt work.
i wondered if there was anything in the UIS file that would explain how it was dumping IE's exe file into OE, even though OE isnt in my system path.
however, nothing showed up.

as a hint to anyone trying to reproduce this problem (hint hint JavaBrain 
) i have been quite unable to reproduce this on my winXP machine, even though i did the same things that caused this problem on my win2k machine.

however, i have just installed OE on my home winXP machine, just the same as i described above. so far no reboot, and the smart buttons Work!
this is really quite strange
anyone else here, or is it just me? just that i would be interested to see if anyone else could reproduce this.
