I'll bet that one could be hard to answer. The only platform that I know that is supported in MAC. I don't know how much software is out for the rest of the OS's. Good thing Windows is not going away. To bad there isn't 3 or 4 OS's out that have full software support. The competition would make for better operating systems.

I'm running OS 10.2 on my Quicksilver 733. Ihave to admit that it kicks the crap out of WinXP on my HP with an Athlon 1.6G. Both machines are maxed out to 1.5G RAM.
Photoshop, Illustrator, and even Microsoft Office all run better and faster on my Mac.
If Windows were to disappear, I wouldn't care, because I usually run RedHat Linux on my pc anyway.

I'm initially tempted to say that I would switch to OS X.
The problem with that is that you can only run it on Apples, which wouldn't be a problem if they weren't little pieces of, um, never mind. Basically, Apple has a top of the line OS, and they've tied it to cruddy a cruddy CPU company, Motorola. Of course, there is always the price issue, why would I pay close to $2k for an apple, when I can buy an IBM compatable with the goods for around $600 (or less).
So, I suppose I would choose Linux instead.... Yes, yes, I know OS X IS Linux, but it's not a version that can run on mainstream computers. If Apple ported OS X to IBM compatible computers you can bet your sweet ass I'd buy it in a skinny second.

OSX is not Linux, it´s BSD. Apple probably has gone this way, because BSD is even more stable and the BSD lisense allows derivative code to be closed source.
OS/2 and BeOS are pretty dead, although a new BeOS version has leaked the last few months when i remember the news at Desktopian right.
a Mac would be spiffy, as it can run *NIX software as well, but as i do not have huge amounts of money, i would use Linux or BSD (hell i use it already about 30% and growing). only problem is that PhotoShop can not be emulated in WINE, has to do something with the GUI libraries (i heard WindowBlinds development had problems with PhotoShop as well).

Not to be a troll or anything, but have you ever tried a cruddy Motorola?
I prefer Macs, I have to admit, but I have 2 Macs and 3 PCs at home and a nice mix at work.

The fact of the matter is that MacOS is better integrated with the hardware and runs more smoothly and efficiently than Windows does on it's hardware. Linux runs better on intel than Windows. Microsoft is stuck with an aging, bloated system architechture that needs to be completely overhauled and rebuilt from scratch - kind of like what Apple did with OSX.
Windows has always been playing catch-up, and the gap is widening.

I'd pick Mac or Linux. I heard they both have many advantaged over supporting softwares and hardware. But i am too glad that Windows is not going away.

Yes, I have had the unfortunate experience of trying cruddy Motorolas. My junior high and high schools were Mac environments. Quite frankly, I grew to loath them. They were breaking down all the time and were akward to use. Yes, windows is about as ugly as it gets, but it is MUCH more useable and when it goes screwy I can fix it myself instead of having it sent off. I am quite glad that I graduated in '99 and have only seen a single Mac since.

Graduated in 99!!!!!!!! We had a 6in four function calculator when I graduated. Couldn't use it in class. Had to use a slide rule. I guess you noticed that you had better not mis-state things on this site. There are a lot of people with a whole lot of knowledge here.

If it's any comfort, we weren't allowed to use calculators either in most math classes. Heck, even my calc II teacher last spring wouldn't let us use those wonderful devices.

Jobeleca- Just a friendly note and am glad you took it right. Up until the last month the average age here was probably 40+. Of course some of us are 50+.

! That does surprise me, as good as windowblinds is I expected a much younger crowd. I came across wb when it was 2.something and since then I know at least a dozen friends who have gotten it as well (all under 25).

I would say that most of the windowblind skinners are 30+. Wallpaper is more ballanced.

Yep. that what i thought too.. i thought at least everyone here were under about 20 or 25... cuz my friend and i just dig through this sites.. But im only good at fixing stuffs not actually designing stuffs.

You are right about the other OS's. They need to have more software support and be more competitive.
