The ego has landed

Sunday, August 25, 2002 by MarkMcQ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Am I imagining it, or has there been a serious rise in the number of people, who are full of shit, posting here with their misguided take on things?
Namely those 'enlightened' folk who have cottoned on to Stardocks 'evil plan' to 'force' people to pay for this site, even though , according to them, everyone knows that it 'doesn't' cost very much to run it.

And what about those who suddenly decide that what Stardock is doing is immoral, and so they will pack up and leave the site, thus making their point clear, by removing their 'sizeable' *COUGH bullshit COUGH* support from the site, and clearing out all their non-existant skins. Not to mention then posting on the messageboard(Using their copy of IE which is looking sexy, thanks to their warez copy of WB), the first post they've ever bothered their arses to ever make here, and making a big song and dance about it.(This does not include Dokt, who has made a lot of great skins, and has a lot of respect from folk around here, including mine).

Some people need slapped.

What can you say. It's the modern generation(ME). I don't even have 1/20 of my download cap and could have coasted for ever, but because I like this site I feel that I should help support it. But I'am from another generation.

Wise, at 42 I still consider myself part of the 'modern' generation. I pay for everything without complaint. I even pay for bottled water. (Who would have guessed 42 years ago that someday we would willingly pay for the water that we drink?)

There are some in my generation,(and I would wager there are even some in younger generations) that understand the need for financial support for sites like WinCustomize.

motion: 42 is in the transition stage. I see a lot of mid 30's everyday that is me,me,me, and younger. They generally out grow it(I hope). My gen. was you pay as you go. It also has to do with a cutural thing, where you grew up, how you were raised. Social background, community background. Maybe even a liberal, consertive thing. Also it's not everyone but it seems to be the majority.

It is most worrysome to those of us that are egotistical, full of shit, and yet sadly unenlightened... I get so confused... what day is it again? and I can't find my other sock...

Hippy? Tell me about the rabbits...

The magic number is 42. Or is it anyone born during 1960 or before?

If the magic number is 42, shouldn't that be mice and not rabbits?

Wait a second > I'm 34 and i paid my own way since i was old enough to make money. No handouts! No freerides! If i couldn't afford it, I didn't get it period!

I'm sick of all the little spoiled brats getting up and packing thier bags cause they want to be freeloaders >

The magic # is 42 with a few 34's thrown in. By the way, in the 1940's.

WiseOldMan - 42 is in the transition stage.

feline starts planning for this transistion in advance

i am a ways off 42, but have paid for many things.
so, what is going to happen to me when this magic age happens?

dracoform wants to know if we drop some of these ego's into the sea, can we make money from surfers? think of it, turning all this ego into a profit generating wave machine

I don't think age has anything to do with freeloading. I'm 24. I'm in my second year of paying for ODNT and now I subscribe to Wincustomize. It's about priorities. Do you want the Big Mac and a super-sized ass, or do you want to spend your bucks on something worthwhile? I just feel that hard work deserves to be supported, or it will disappear. The legions of freeloaders have no idea they're destroying the things they enjoy.

It's unfortunate that the during the whole net explosion it conditioned a whole lot of people that everything should be free for their picking. There are other alternatives out there both free and not-free. Each has their pluses and minuses. Choose accordingly. Why don't they just pick from the options that suite them, shut the hell up and move on. I'm amazed at the ignorance and lack of any cohesive argument from these people. Their attempts at moral superiority and self-rightousness would be laughable if it wasn't so annoying.
