Classic look Domain Logon in XP

Wednesday, August 21, 2002 by Edwin Overmeer | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I prefer the classic logon (domain logon) look and not the Luna look in XP.

Switching to Windows Classic look displays everything in the old Windows 2000 style except the Domain Logon window.

Is this possible?

Control Panel --> User Accounts --> Change the way users log on or off:
Uncheck "Use the Welcome screen"

Thanks but this is not what I mean. I have already a domain logon but it is skinned with the Luna Style and the rest of all is in my favorite classic look. Only the domain logon is skinned.

I think, there's nothing You can do about it...

I think the logon prompt uses whatever style the computer's Administrator account is using. If you log in as Administrator and change to the classic look, that might change the style of the logon prompt. It's worth a try, anyway.

It is possible but it requires regisrty hacking that I can't recall at the moment

Just do a search in the registry for something along the lines of "login screen" and see what you can come up with.

I haven't tried this myself, so I can't tell you if it works or not, but it's just a thing I have seen on one of the many "XP Tweaks" sites.

Hope this has helped
