desktop lights have arived

for those of you with Object Desktop subscriptions, winFX 1.90l (alpha) and WB 3.4c (beta) are now up.
when used together you can have desktop lights
feline thinks it is really cool
now if only transparent menus would hurry up and reapear in winFX 2 *sigh*

Hmm, nice to play arround with it... And I thought i wouldn't need to install WFX under XP anymore... 
(Although I must admit that I only used it for transparent icons background on 98 and 2000)

I like fx1.91 and windowblinds 3.4c a lot! I haven't figured out how to apply the lights yet, but the other stuff on fx is great (I like all the transition and animation effects and I have been trying to take the text away from my icons for a long time).
Oh, and the new object bars is great too!

applying lights is easy:
load winFX
go to "special WB effects"
select "enable lights"
then "add light. . ."
the coordinates have 0,0 at the top left hand corner of your primary monitor, and are in pixels (so botton right is 800*600 on a 800*600 screen). select a colour, and hit apply
if you find that your WB skin looks a lot darker, it isnt just you. several people have posted this on the newsgroup, me included. however, the cool factor is increadible!

Thanks, feline! I never understood the coordinates and I think a lot of applications use them ... so this is especially nice to know.
Yes, my titlebars are dark. I thought I made an adjustment in the windowblind settings to show the inactive state (whatever that meant) and that it got stuck that way!

I found out that if you alternate click the buttons of the windows that you have open in the taskbar, there is a transparency setting. You can make the open window transparent to any degree and also clickthroughable. That is cool.
But I am having trouble with minimizing some windows. The content seems to minimize but there is an outline of the frame still there, and it is alive. So I can see my desktop with a shadow of the window that I minimized and its title bar. But when I alternate click on what should be my desktop, I get the menu for the window that should be minimized. This is hard to get control of. I suspect that it has soemthing to do with a browser window with open java aplet windows (for instance the msn message boards). Does what I am saying make any sense?

The minimize issue has been fixed internally. It mostly occured with UIS1 skins too.
The latest build of WindowFX on OD has an option to darken or not darken the skin when using lights.
