They're all over youtube. There was one that went like this. Wait for it...wait for it...then BAM!! There was a warning to lower the volume on this video. It exploded somewhere overhead of the person taking the video. You could hear glass shattering and the small impacts made by the pieces. Scary!

It's amazing that it didn't hit the earth, yet the shock wave blasted out windows and damaged buildings, people were injured. Imagine if one of these actually hit a built up area ... Our ex-prime minister didn't put in money, around 1 mil a year, to help the international community to monitor meteorites because 'it will never happen'. It's only a matter of time ...

Indeed. That's why nukes are programmed to detonate at 5,000 ft. or so (except the ones preplanned to be 'dirty'.
Imagine what might have happened if this had happened in the '60s or '70s? Say during the Cuban crisis?

Funny how Channel 10 News [in Oz] led with this in their news at 5pm.....probably appropriate since more than 1100 people were injured...not insignificant...
...and Channel 9 at 6 had to report first that some pre-glue-factory nag won its fat-bastard owners a shit-load of money for the 23'rd consecutive time.
...and the Meteor strike was the fill-in before sport.
Channel 9 is really a crap station.

Sad, isn't it! Channel Nine used to be one of the best. It was run like a tight ship when Kerry Packer ran it... since his departure it has gne to the dogs. Not saying I liked Kerry Packer, he was an arsehole, but during his tenure Nine ran many of the best local and overseas shows.
Fact is, I rarely watch TV these days because all the free-to-air channels have pretty much gone to crap. I can count on 1 hand how many things I'd be bothered to turn the TV on for. Very nearly everything I see on the telly these days is either rented or stuff we've bought.
As for the nag and its fat-bastard owners, horse racing would be outlawed if I had my way. Anything that requires an captive animal to complete it is no sport to me. For mine, the lazy bastard effing jockeys should run the race/jump the damned hurdles.
*Okay rant off*
Better still.... over parliamentary Canberra during question time.

All that nag racing and getting pissed on Champers happens about a 10 minute walk from my place.
I used to enjoy the Grands Prix in Adelaide cos it was around Melbourne cup time...and I was nowhere near it....

That'd drive me nucking futs... idiot race goers frantically trying to park in any space big enough [sometimes not], in peoples driveways and front yards anywhere up to 5 miles away and all the frigging noise emanating from the venue each time there's a winner. I had a mate who lived close to the Bundamba racecourse just outside of Ipswich, and when people rudely parked on his property he'd simply have the relevant authorities tow the offending vehicles away... redeemable only when the owner fronted up with the cash.
Still, it [racing] would be banned if I had my way. Sport of kings my arse... it attracts many more criminals.
