How you run windowblinds skins

Some browsers download incorrectly

Thursday, January 17, 2013 by neone6 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I still get this alot about why some skins come down as .ZIP instead of .WBA so I decided to be of a little assistance.

If using Internet Explorer you should Change the file-extension from .ZIP to .WBA, but FIRST You have to go to -

Controlpanel / FolderOptions / View-tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" -checkbox.

THEN you will see the extensions such as Zip, Rar, Wba etc and then you can change the files name from .ZIP to .WBA

An alternative way is to use FireFox instead of InternetExplorer. For some reason it comes down as WBA then...

Hope this helps you when searched the forum for answers.

The trick would be to post the suggested solution in the text description included with each of your WB uploads.....[assuming people ever read them of course].  That way you catch the problem at the source....

Agreed. But as you said they probably don´t read the description as the question keeps coming up.

-Let´s all switch to FireFox

Very odd Andrew, I just tried downloading 20 different Windowblinds skins and if they were uploaded as .wba, they are downloading as .wba. If they were uploaded as a .zip, then they are downloading as a .zip. Everything is working perfectly since yesterday here. Using IE 10 in Windows 7 64-bit and also working fine in IE10 on Windows 8 64-bit. Oh, and of course working fine in Firefox 18.0 as always.

Not only is it fixed, you now have the option to open (auto install) or save the file.

The fix seems to apply only to .wba and .suite files at this time .ip or .iconpackage files are still being changed to .zip

No, that means 'fixed' as that's how it was originally...

It's been so long since I was able to save a .wba, or right click and "save target as" that I must have forgotten that part.

besides that, it's early here and I haven't had my coffee yet.

Icon Packages still need this fix.

I need a couple of examples of what IP packages are doing this.

All of these show as zips in the download dialog box and arrive as such. Renaming to .ip allows them to install normally.
