So the computer finally is showing it's age

It's taken me awhile to start this thread, sorry. I know this may end up in flame wars. Again I am sorry.
So everyone knows my situation. Well those close to me on this site do. My computer is finally showing signs of how old it truly is. Keep in mind my computer has a Pentium 4 processor so I am guessing this setup to be almost ten years old. The problem, even after a few friends helped me here with a new hard drive and more memory, is the rest of the system. The processor can't keep up with the newer operating systems. I'm having a hard time just running XP. Found out the other day my DVD Burner drive is almost dead as it will read disc sometimes and other times it will not. Monitor is on it's last legs as well. Hard to read anything and the brightness is going out. It's an old CRT Dell monitor that is almost as old as the tower.
As Starkers had told you this computer is my main way to communicate with the things that are important in my life. So I was hoping someone out there had a few newer parts I could install to extend the life of the machine a bit. Nothing special. I already have DDR2 memory and a newer hard drive. Just need a few other things.
So carry on. Discuss I guess.

At this point in time, any amount would be most helpful yes. I was hoping that maybe some of the other members would pitch in a small amount because you know those nickel and dimes can add up, especially here on WC. No one person would have to chip in much and if we had several, then we could get the job done with no strain on anyone.

Well Kona, I know what few resources you have already and this would certainly put an extra strain on you which is not a good thing. Just be patient my friend because I know that God will provide a way for this to be taken care of. He's never let me down and this will be no different. We'll get it done ,so don't worry.

o.k......here's the latest update, when I first estimated the weight of the box to the Post Office, I grossely underestimated it at about 8 lbs. It's actually 18.8 pounds, so that shot the price up to about what Fedex estimated. But I found out from my son-in-law that he runs the Fedex & UPS accounts at the shipping warehouse where he works. He said that tommorrow morning he will take the package with him to work and see if he can get me a good rate with faster ship time. So It will definitely be leaving on a truck tommorrow morning. I will update what he tells me tommorrow when he calls me from his work.
P.S - doortech , didn't see anything new in the Paypal account as of 5:00 pm EST. Not sure if it went through my friend. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Ace, I believe because I did not send from a pay pal to a pay pal account, but rather a credit card{prepaid} to pay pal. I checked and we just have to wait for pay pal to bypass my bank and use the card. Said 3-5 days, lets hope sooner, but I will make sure you get it.

o.k....good deal doortech....My son-in-law said he would front the money down where he works, and I can just pay it back to him when we have all the money collected because I have to transfer it out of my paypal account to my bank so I can write him a check or withdraw it on my bank card to repay him. Transfering money always takes a few days, but at least the box will be on it's way tommorrow.

The tower I have now isn't really that small. Has room for 2 120mm fans up front, 2 on the side, and one in the rear. I'm running a huge P4 board right now and there is plenty of left over room.
Don't get me wrong I'll take the case if we can find a way to get it here. I was just trying to come up with a different way to help.
