So the computer finally is showing it's age

It's taken me awhile to start this thread, sorry. I know this may end up in flame wars. Again I am sorry.
So everyone knows my situation. Well those close to me on this site do. My computer is finally showing signs of how old it truly is. Keep in mind my computer has a Pentium 4 processor so I am guessing this setup to be almost ten years old. The problem, even after a few friends helped me here with a new hard drive and more memory, is the rest of the system. The processor can't keep up with the newer operating systems. I'm having a hard time just running XP. Found out the other day my DVD Burner drive is almost dead as it will read disc sometimes and other times it will not. Monitor is on it's last legs as well. Hard to read anything and the brightness is going out. It's an old CRT Dell monitor that is almost as old as the tower.
As Starkers had told you this computer is my main way to communicate with the things that are important in my life. So I was hoping someone out there had a few newer parts I could install to extend the life of the machine a bit. Nothing special. I already have DDR2 memory and a newer hard drive. Just need a few other things.
So carry on. Discuss I guess.

Oh my god! Its coming to you Kona, I sent the seller an email, will see if I get a response. Other than that I have no way to track. EBAY SUCKS.

Kona. I sent you a pm with a tracking number. It was hidden in my email through thunderbird. I could not log on at ebay, no account, If you have one you should be able to track. I will let you know if I get a email from the seller.

Well I put a bit of the new computer together tonight. I sorted through the PSU wires and organized them with zip ties for the best possible air flow and arrangement. I took the DVD-RW drive out of the old computer since it wasn't working under Windows there anyhow and installed it in the case. I also spent a good 20 minutes installing the I/O shield. It just didn't want to fit.

Doortech - The monitor showed up today.. The eBay listing on the receipt said it is a 15" monitor with VGA and power cords. All the seller sent was just the monitor, no cables. I have a power cable for the monitor, just no VGA cable.
Nothing else has shown up yet.

I new something would go wrong, and I new it would be ebay. I sent the seller an email, it will not help you now though. I am kinda shocked you do not have an extra or know someone. Any local shops around{computer} might give you one free. Otherwise you are in for a wait again.
I will let you know what the seller says.

Well, you're in luck then. I went to the PO and it was closed for lunch and came back home to wait til 1:30. I have a brand new VGA cable and I'll throw it in the package with the graphics card.

Good one Carguy1! Kona, they, being the computer shop that sells on ebay, said it was an oversite and they will send it out immediately. So , now you will have a spare next time it looks like. So close, hope the rest comes soon. Also, apologies to EBAY, I guess!

Seller should have sent you an email when he shipped it. Did you tell him to ship it to me or is it on it's way to you?
