Wall Skin: How to change Inside of Windows?

Sunday, December 23, 2012 by Hirnsausen | Discussion: Skinning

Hi.

1. I use Windows 7 with the so-called "Aero Windows" and like one of the included skins, the "Wall" skin which looks like black and white stone. I use it. But how can I alter the elements inside the windows, such as menu bars, START button, and the window backgrounds. I tried already to change the Explorer background with an own texture, but that texture for some reason remains nearly invisible.

2. I also want to change the window shadow. I want to push its location a little bit more to the right and to the bottom, so it fits to the virtual "light source position" of the Windows operating system (top left). And I want to reduce the strength of that window shadow a bit, too. How to?

I am very new to the skinning, so if you assist me, you might have to make it idiot-proof. Step-by-step. Thanks a lot.

skinstudio is the program we use to create the elements within a specific windowblind. To change these graphics one would generally use skinstudio to do so. You would also need a graphics program (e.g. photoshop) to create the speicic graphic.

Like gmc2 said if you have a graphic program such as photoshop, paint shop pro or another you can get started.

Here is a step by step tutorial that you can make an entire windowblind from

If you lose the links here you can find them in the Wincustomize Wiki there is a link to this located at the bottom of every page on WC.

Well, thanks for telling me that SkinStudio is the software, I wouldn't have known why I am in this forum.

But I admit, it looks like I expressed myself not very good, when I look back to my initial posting.

My situation is, that I have already a skin. It is one of those pre-installed skins which come with WindowBlinds (trial version). It is called "Wall". This one is quite nice, but it leaves most of the Window inside untouched. That I want to change. What are the steps within SkinStudio? Yes, I got graphic skills and graphic software.
