SO LONG, AND THANKS FOR THE FISH.....

Thursday, December 20, 2012 by Jafo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The world ends today.

It's December 21, 2012 so this is it [according to the Mayans].

If it's truly specific to a day/hour Australians can rejoice in the reality that for exactly 2 hours....the last 2 ....those pesky Kiwis will already be no more....

....no more All Blacks to beat the crap out of us in Rugby....

....and fleetingly, 10 hours later.... the English will be the world's best cricketers....for once....

Just another disappinting day in my life, the world was supposed to end but nooooo......I still have to clean the kitchen.  Can't anyone get anything right!

Oh and now we are told 'The Mayans didn't predict the end of the World, it's just the end of their calendar.'

Us old folks are all into planning and getting things in order, now look what they have gone and done.

Damn it, damn it all to hell!

Assuming the Mayans are/were in the same time-zone as the US....it means when I see the 22nd..... THEN we are all screwed.

I currently see the 22nd.

The myth that the Mayan calendar ending prophesied the end of the world was debunked yeas ago,, the Symbol of there god at the end of the calendar was misinterpreted to read as the end of the world, but new research shows they believed it to be the end of one era and the beginning of a new one, as the age of enlightenment... Not so different from our own new millennium,, which was touted to A: be the dawn of enlightenment, or B: the end of days as the dooms dayers proclaimed..

Not to mention a recent discovery in the Mayan "Xultún" site in Guatemala, revealed an extended calendar which predates the Dresden Codex by at least 200 years. It shows the calendar goes well beyond 13 baktun's to 17 baktun's, adding another 1500 years or so to the Mayan calender.

Sorry folks.. I guess we will have a bit of a wait...

...whereas in truth it means "we've run out of pizza".

I can see how those two terms could be easily confused.

*Wizard1956 writes this down (and takes a screenshot) on the very real chance that he is just as broke in 1,500 years as he is today.

That $500 will most likely be worth about $0.50 by then, but I'll take those odds.

I expect I'll have as many pennies then as I do now. May not get any more of 'em though. In  the 70's it cost 1.2 cents to make one, today 2.1 cents to make one and 1,500 years from now......why.....we could pay off the whole planet's debt just by tossin' pennies at the debtors. They agreed to forego the debt after they got hit in the head one too many times. But its all good, we can always wait for the next one.

Quoting starkers, reply 12What frackin' fish? Too f**ckin' expensive to just give it away. Yup, I was gobsmacked when my mother told me that she could buy Australian caught barramundi for $1.35 in the UK, less than quarter of the price we pay for it here.... that's after packaging, shipping and handling costs, import duties and retail markup.

Says to me there is something patently wrong with Australian marketing, pricing, etc.

WTF?....

wot you complainin' about?  You're the one who brought up fish [not as in regurgitation]... I just commented it was too expensive to give away... that I'm not contributing to your stash... cos at 20 bucks a kilo, a "thanks for the fish" ain't enough recompense.

As for the end of the world, I predict it will occur when the fat lady sings.... her high note's a planet killer.

Glad your talking about fish...anything for the stash that's sold by the kilo in the states is going to be a lot more than 20 bucks.
