Shhhh! A new law says TV ads can't blare anymore

NEW YORK (AP) — TV viewing could soon sound a little calmer. The CALM Act, which limits the volume of TV commercials, goes into effect on Thursday.

What? Speak up! I can't hear you!
It actually takes a law to make them comply with a common sense measure? Not really... there's a number to call if they don't comply. That's so the government can levy a fine on them. Then they'll raise the price on the advertised product so that the consumer covers the cost of the fine plus a bit more, since they'll never drop the price back again.
Cool game. Can anyone play?
edit:
The public is screwed, no matter how you look at it:
1. Companies comply with regulation: Prices go up because "that costs money".
2. Companies don't comply: Prices go up to cover fines.

Cool! Now I don't have to cover my ears anymore. Now if they could only do that for radio or on all those vids that have commercials sewn into them or......the list goes on and on. This is Corporate America folks...............anything and everything is fair game to the Ad police...um...people.

There's a reason why remotes have a mute button

My favorites are the really loud ones that sound like they were recorded on an old hand-held cassette recorder. Those babies make my head explode. Get my attention in a not-so-good way.

Yeah, but do you know what a drag it is when the TV is in the bedroom and someone is sleeping and you have to hold the remote in your hand so you can--QUIK!--mute it when an ad comes on? I know "cause I have to do that. Ruins your mood so you can't sleep so you watch more TV and hold the remote......

Now ya see why I don't allow a TV in the bedroom. And Fuzzy, I do hit the remote button but I don't hold the remote in my hand.

Good for the people that can't control it. I had Comcast for 30 years and now Verizon for the last year. Both control the commercial volumn to keep it the same as what you are watcihng and what you have set on your TV volumn. Was a real pain till Comcast added something a few years ago so you heard no difference. My Daughter lives in the mountains and has cable but you know when a commerical is on for sure, as the sound jumps up.
