Mac icon rips

As nobody here seems to be very strict about the mac icon rips that are going on and on in the Desktop X section, perhaps this http://www.mixthepix.com/index2.php will wake someone up. I really love this site and this is the only concern I really have with it...

You are right! I have notice those rips too!
Some other people are using one classy ball and they put ripped icons inside the ball!
About MM-set, I think that it has permission by the original author.

this has happened in the past and will happen again and again ... the whole concept of Zoomer objects leads to this situation how about enabling that Zoomer thing to use the *.ico format directly?

It is simply not fair, that some great mac icon-artists begin to open to the PC(XP)-community and allow ports of their work by special people (most of all it's one person they trust and saying that they will host these xp-icons) and then seeing them ripped all over by others, who don't care. Some people don't even know, where they got the icon that they ripped from...

I used to have this really neat set of icons called Blue Mountain or something. One day I came accross a notice from the artist that he had withdrawn his icons entirely because something like this had happened. I felt guilty and deleted the ones I had. I have never seen them since. They were very beautiful icons. It was hard to let them go.

On last days, many skinners/users are speaking about rips.
Obvyously, DesktopX are a framebuffer for Windows that can show animations on the fly. Making a zoomers with the same image, is despise DesktopX capabilities, and system memory. Good examples of objects for DesktopX are the Mormegil zoomers, this is the way for DesktopX.
But, speaking about rips, i consider that must be a more strict policy for rips, on this, and another sites. If in some site there's rips of our wallpapers, it must be a policy for skins/wallpapers uploaded here that can be rips.
I konw that, when a set of icons are liked by the masses and are successful, it can be ripped. Recently i uploaded here a set of icons, and i received a lot of requestions for use, and translation for other systems, including MacOS! And i konw that the best i can do is to port this icons on any customization site, specially on Linux customization sites, when the enhanced xwindows systems KD3 and GNome2 have higher icons and alphablends. For MacOs i have no problem, specially when i use a Mac on my work, but for Linux i need a "collaborator".
Fortunately, there's a lot of original icons and skins on this site

I tend to download my icons, skins and wallpapers from what I consider are reputable sites (like the ones listed in the community here). However, I am not that familar with Mac visuals so I am not sure whether I've got a rip or not. The sites have got to take some responsibilty for this or a methodology developed for tagging the proprietary art. I also appreciate the policing and broadcasting of the names of ripped items so that I can avoid them. Perhaps if we had a thread here like the 'Marathon' where a running list was kept. That could take some of the effort off Wincustomize and the other reputable sites. Any other thoughts?

Carlitus: porting your icons to Linux will be very easy. Linux uses alpha-transparent PNGs as icons. also any resolution is supported. Nautilus, the default file manager and desktop of Gnome, allows you to scale the icons to any size (even bigger than the desktop if you would want that). you just need a directory structure and put all icons in the correct folder. download a set at kde-look.org to see how this is structured. if you still need help, don´t hesitate to contact me

My personal problem is that I don't use either a Mac, or even icons themselves [LiteSTEP doesn't 'need' them as such]...so I'm not too familiar with who is doing what with icons.
What is needed in particular with icons and the ripping there-of is for those 'iconoclastic' skinners out there to keep bringing this sort of thing to public attention.
Find a rip...find a link...and you'll find it 'gone'.
We [the skinners] have to take care of 'our own'...
BTW....'iconoclastic' just 'sounds' good....has nothing to do with creating icons....

Well, actually I surf arround a lot on mac-icon sites, so I know a 'few' mac-icons... In some submissions I posted the original source as a comment, but well... 
If I think I would post every single icon that I have converted for DX or XP, well, I think I would have 'exile' as my rank in just a few days...

I downloaded some icons from the kde site, and i can find a directory structure (on WIndows). I know that is better to install a Linux system to do the icons management task on the same system, but:
I tried to install Linux on my system. First, the 8.2 Mandrake, but i can use the driver for my praphics card (Radeon 7500) and works very slow. At second attempt, i installed Conecitva Linux (that uses red had packages). Now the graphic card works perfectly (sometimes better than in 2d Windows modes! incredible), but the system don't find my sound card and other devices of my system.
