How many of you use Linux or Unix as well as Windows?

Just uninstalled it actually. Found out I spent less and less time on that partition.

about 25% Linux. Enlightenment as preferred desktop. BlackBox before Babyhead began themeing, his E themes are exactly my style.

Well jsut wondering, I have gotten several request to port my Icons over to Linux, but I wouldent know how.

that will be pretty easy. Linux uses alpha-chanelled PNG as icon format.
just create a directory structure with the common resolutions 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64. you can also make folders for the higher resolution. the Nautilus file manager & the Gnome desktop will support higher resolutions. will be helpful when the size folder would contain sub-folders for apps, devices, mimetimes, etc.
download an icon set from http://www.kde-look.org/ or http://sunshineinabag.co.uk/ to see that directory structure.
when you finished the set, pack them as TAR.

I dual boot between Windows and Linux. Just moved from Mandrake 8.2 to Suse 8.0. So far, I am liking Suse much better. The fact that it has KDE 3 already installed helps. 
Now all I have to do is get the Liquid theme from Mosfet up and running and I will be happy.

Thanks Moshi, do you know if Can do this in windows, Make the directory structure and make the Tarball? or do I need a to install Linux?

I occasionally use Linux. Now that I figured out some games I like don't work on Windows XP, but on Windows 95, I might have a new purpose for Linux. I also want to try Gnome 2.

I have two machines, one for Linux, one for Windows. I spend about an equal amount of time on each (I'm a Unix and Windows developer

From the standpoint of a Linux user, I'd be thrilled to see your icons on my linux box as well as my windows box.
You should have no trouble making the PNG icons in windows. You can even zip them up using the zip format, Linux users can unzip them using unzip (which is available on most of the distributions).

Mormegil: yes, you can do all this in windows. as Aleatoric said you can also zip them. TAR is just the more common format. if you want to upload them at any Linux site, have a look at the submission policies there. the old themes.org did not accept ZIP files, but this may have changed in the meantime.
