Good-Bye to the bassist for the Who. 
I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert about 10 years ago. He was amazing.
Saddly the rock stations are ignoring his passing. The local NPR station is doing a huge tribute today.
Probably the only bassist that could keep up with Keith Moon.

Sad news indeed. Our local classic rock station played hours of live Who last night. I also heard this morning that Entwhistle pioneered the rock bass solo, a fact I was unaware of.

Its really sad. On the station I usually listen to( WZRD: pretty much free-format for the older Generation X-ers and above) they had a tribute, played some some songs, played an-instudio interview when he visisted the station).
On the old alterantive station I used to listen to (WFNX - aka let's play the same 3 nu-metal songs over and over again) it was literally "John Entwistle is dead. And that's the news". Then they immediately launched into limp bizquik or some such song.

i saw them on their 25th anniversary tour in boulder, colorado. i had been a huge fan for years.

Entwistle was the soul of the Who just as Bonam was the soul of Led Zep or Morrison of the Doors. Words fail

RIP John - 57 isn't bad for a high profile rocker... what a great body of work he leaves as a testament to his time with us. Rael is right, Heaven is the place to be for music now...

Probably the best beginning bass line in rock: "Can you see the real me, can ya, CAN YA?" then cue Entwhistle's bass. Who fans will have it running through their minds all day now.
Heaven's Rock Band just keeps getting better and better.
