Monday, June 24, 2002 by WOM | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Whwn a family buys software it is ysed by the whole family. My question is this: Can the whole family use the stardock software and upload skins under their own names?

If the whole family lives in the same house and uses the same computer and all come to Wincusotmize and have their own accounts. I don't see the conflict.

Now if the whole family included Mom in Vermont, Aunt Sally in Walla Walla, WA and your brother Pete on an extended secondment to Singapore then I think you might be asking for trouble.

Thanks Bill, I thought that was how it would be. Just checking to be safe.

I just asked and was told it's even OK if you own two computers. Lets say you have a Laptop and a Desktop that are "yours", it would be OK to load OD on both!

Thanks again. MS would say thats illegal. One software, one computer. But we all know we put it on all our puters.

I know. Maybe we should just use the phone! It would be easier, but more costly.

Try clicking on this link, If you mIRC, Trillian or even Microsoft chat, it should work.

irc://irc.stardock.com/stardock

Or if you have a java enabled browser this link should work.

https://www.stardock.com/stardock/chat/

Bill; Are you supposed to see what you typed? If so, how do you activate it? I can read what everyone says.

If you came in on the java web page there is a typing line below the white box. I saw you there....

I saw you say hi, but I didn't see my typing. I used the link you gave above. It logged me in.

Better to use a dedicated app (like mIRC or xChat). Java is still evil. IRC is farily straightforward. Type some text, hit enter and everyone will see.

Trillian (all-in-one app): http://www.trillian.cc/download.html
Xircon: http://www.xircon.com/download.htm

If you run one of these, you'll probably be faced with a list of servers. irc.stardock.com is probably not in that list, so poke around untill you can manually enter a server name (then enter: irc.stardock.com). When you're in, hop over to channel #stardock (or so it seems).
