Is anyone paying for Gamespot complete...?

Has anyone here paid for a subscription to Gamespot (GS) yet? I really like GS but they are now charging $20 per year for full access. Sound like WC, not really, most of their content is restricted for the non-paying crowd.
If you are paying do you think it is worth it?

Yeah. It's pretty good. They've added a bunch of stuff in complete like live video/audio interviews and movies and such. My bro and I are splitting a subscription.

I guess I eally should have provided a link! GS is a site that covers just about every computer game you could imagine. From PC to Gameboy to Xbox to Playstation theyhave it all.

Just curious, has anyone ever paid for a magazine subscription? In my opinion Websites tend to offer much more than magazines yet many people seem to think its ok to pay for a magazine but will not pay for a website subscription. Just doesn't make sense to me.

well, if you get a magazine you have a large physical item in your hands, and you can read it at any time and place (good while waiting for the bus).
it is quite a different thing reading it all on line, plus if you have a slow connection movies can be a total joke.
from that perspective it makes a degree of sence

I have quite a few magazine subscriptions. But I bought the mag a the store first and read what they had to offer. Then when the little subscription cards fall out all over the place I send them in if the mag is worth it. I just want to know if it is worth the money!

I do most of my magazine reading on the bus to and from work. Can't do that with a website (my iPAQ doesn't have a wireless connection yet...)
And yes, I could download stuff on my iPAQ through AvantGo or somthing similar, but I just like reading some on paper better than on screen.

T-Man, i'm subscribed to Windows & .NET Magazine. The added values they provide online for subscribers was a key selling point in my case. I think the success of online subscription resides in those value added contents they can provide only online. I personnaly love hard copy magazine because you can read it wherever you are while online content can give you access to those extras paper can't offer.

I have never seen any of them. But I will check them out tonight. Thanks. I still haven't decided whether it's worth the money. I was just an occasional user there, just popping in to read a review now and then. So I am going to wait and see. If you are really into gaming though Gamespot's site really rocks...

T-Man, reading a magasine and reading on a computer screen are two different experiences. Personnaly, everything that exceeds two screen heights, I print to read. Reading on a screen is much more difficult, and totally not relaxing.
Yes, I have subscribed to magasines before, but never do I sit at my desk to read them. I lie on the couch, I sometimes read them in bath, or on the potty, in the train or while waiting at the bus stop. I could never do that with a web site subscrition. I would never get my money's worth as I would never spend near as much time reading articles on a web site as I would a real magasine.
Take the news for example, in the morning, I skim through the main headlines online, but if there is a topic I want to read more about, I go and buy myself a newspaper.

Let me correct the above.
Web sites I'd be willing to pay for:
- an online library where I can download and print whole books
- a movie provider: where I could downlaod and watch a movie on my TV (the day TV will be prugged o the Net)

Bill, This is the only site that I've subcribed to. When I go on line with MSN explorer they have a game site. I've played some and down loaded some that I liked (or thought I would like) and eventually bought them. I guess I'am still in the old mold of the free internet. I guess all good things must come to an end.

In '79, Australian Penthouse was launched, so, me thinking it 'might' one day be a 'collectors item', subscribed....20 years later I kind of gave up on it...[ran out of space....240 mags by that time]....now I'll sell 'em at a massive loss and look like a right 'nana...
Instead, I subscribe to PCAnswers...an English mag...that isn't pre-occupied with games and gaming, unlike most....and even has 'Extreme Customising', namely skinning and alternate shells....you know, the sorta stuff we do..
