wincustomize Accounts

Friday, June 14, 2002 by Entilza | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Ever since i have been registered on wincustomize i have been getting nothing but junk in my email.

I mean anyone can come on the site and look everyones email up and send them god know what.

Come on Wincustomize give your customers an option for a certain amount of protection!

Will there be an option to hide email in your account for all who wants to hide it?

And who else thinks this is a good idea?

Darren,

Are you sure it is because of WC... This is one of only a few places with my email address other than friends and family and I get absolutely no spam. I have MSN account that I use all over the web that is flooded with hundreds of spam messages a day!

I don't get any spam either, and I've been here since we opened.

I also used my primary address here and don't get any spam at all. I have several email accounts that get lots of spam but I don't think any of it is from skinning sites. I know for a fact I don't get any spam from being on this site bevause that address is still clean.

Only 2 people have my email address plus this site. I can say that I don't get any spam neither.

I have not received any junk mail as a result of my subscription here either. Are you sure you haven't posted in newsgroups with that account, Entilza? Is it possible that your ISP could have inadvertantly given up your email address? I know my ISP has a public section of thier web site that lists users' home pages by thier email account. This would be an easy way for a spammer to get Road Runner addresses. Just a thought.

no my isp does not give my email up... i have two different emails with my isp and this is the only one that gets junk.

Besides my isp does not list users( besides i do not have a homepage with my isp) i have never made one.

I build a few sites on homstead and they are linked with my yahoo account with a different name.

The only other time i used a news group is with a different name and email address

The one thing that people are not aware of is spyware, that little known program, that software companies use that in my estimation acts like a virus....in case you are not familiar with it, it is a little undetected invisible cookie, embedded in the software itself, that can send info back to any company re your email, your computer etc. WC has no spyware, but other companies might, if you download a program called adaware, from WWW.Zdnet.com this free utility will find any and all spyware, usually located in places we cannot find, like in the registry etc, the first time I ran it, I had over 149 pieces of spyware, programs, like Hotbar, or Yahoo software to name two that you download will be loaded with spyware. After using it the spam I got stopped dead in it's tracks. Give it a try....

I do not use zdnet anything , nor do i use the likes of hotbar or even some others you did not mention like gozilla .. i have no spyware on my pc.. i am very fussy about that.

(i know you are going to think oh yeah he does just he does not know about it)

I don't use anything except stardock programs and a few various boxed software i have bought from the shop.

And i am aware of various things about cookies, besides you say invisible .. i have all files showing on my pc hidden and system files alike.. i'd like to see the little suckers hide from that ...

Thanks for your reply though gregory
