GUI question

I was curious as to whether anyone that placed in the GUI categories ever received a thank you from their represented site. I would like to know which ones did and which ones didn't. It would certainly give one a feel of the atomosphere of those sites and clearly distinquish which ones should be represented or not in the next go around.

Yes, VelocityArt thanked me when I made the skin.
But I must say that I took the initiative to send Doug (the owner of the site) a copy of the skin before I submitted it to the GUI Olympics, in order to get his opinion. I WAS representing his site after all, so I thought it was normal that he should give his approval. Upon receiving it, he said he loved it and thanked me.

Seems to me the nice thing to do would have been to send a thank you seeing that they were receiving a benefit from the skinners effrot regardless of whether they received a preview or not. After all, it really wasn't a matter of pre-approval as it was the skinners choice of whom they represented. If they hadn't of been chosen, they wouldn't have reaped any benefit. Anyway, my opinion, and I was curious what the answer might reveal.

I received thanks from Chaz for my skins representing LOS, and Jark and Matt thanked me for my Devart submission.

Jark thanked me and made the skin a daily deviation at deviantart. He also commented on the skin itself.

I think most sites thanked the skinners who represented them.
As for the approval, the way I see it myself, you are making a skin in the name of a site, therefore, it affects their image.
So, for example, Velocityart would have legitimate reason to not want me to represent them with a skin they disagree with (for example if the skin used porno or violence, or if they just thought if was just too ugly.
Of course,t hat's the way I personnaly see it.
In my eyes, common politeness and decency had 2 parts:
- the skinner should show the skin to the site it represent first
- the site should thank the skinner
Not everyone can agree, but that's how I see it.

Thanks, paxx for your view. It is an eye opener. Yes, hadn't thought of it that way, seeing as how it was my understanding that you picked the site you wanted to represent, but can see how the preview thing would have been a good gesture too. Now, I am curious as to how many submitted previews (curious by nature).

I did not submit any previews. I think maybe I should have, but no harm done. I made a few bucks for DA and Jark posted some nice comments on my skins. Next time, however, I will.

I didn't send any previews to chaz per say, but I did did post screenshots of most of the skins that I submitted while they were in progress. I received a lot of feedback from LOS admins/users that helped with the skins. Also, when I posted the skins chaz left several comments to the effect that they were glad that that I was representing them, etc.

chazy appreciated all my efforts for LOS so much, he fired me for joining the admin staff at Skinbase. Now that's gratitude!
