Control panel link to open in category view

Thursday, July 19, 2012 by jaswright | Discussion: ObjectDock

I want to put a link to control panel in one of my docks and to have it open in category view as it does from start menu, for example. However the link on the dock opens in large icons view. I'd really like it on there with my other system tools but there's no point as I might as well open control panel in start menu and have it in category view, which I prefer. I know you can easily change it to category view from the drop-down list but that defeats the point. Does anyone know of a way to get the dock link to open in category view? This is in windows 7 ultimate x64 btw.

Create new shortcut on dock by right clicking the dock, set target for C:\Windows\System32\control.exe  . Make sure you have control panel set to open in category view.   I just did this, works fine.
