Does the site feel faster?

Ok, we put quite a bit of work into the site optimizing code. So now we want to know if it paid off.

Does the site feel faster to you?

I'll wait until it's been here a little few hours at least. Probably not fair to judge until everyone stops poking around the new diggs. It sure is pretty, though.

curious how it feels right at this moment. I take it at the moment it doesn't feel any faster?

well, the message board is loading Elf's marathon thread in 1/2 (or less) of the old time.

that in its self is an impressive achievement!

Right now it's really quite snappy. We'll see if that changes later on.

true

already the marathon thread is seeming slower.

it seems people are returning and slowing the site down. or else my machine is giving up again.

wait and see on that one me thinks.

Seems to be faster.........wondering if it's the "just got the car out of the shop, syndrome".

Well it's definitely faster. Especially the msgboard which used to take for ever to just get and display the list of message threads.

Let's put it this way - I could make a large espresso coffee, do the washing up and enjoy a leisurely bath while waiting for the old site to load. New code feels *much* quicker.

Doreen, the site knows it's you, that icon only shows up for you, no one else can see it.

Wow! the site seems much faster! I notice a huge improvement in speed... great job!
