Animation for dummies

A very basic tutorial for animations

Sunday, July 8, 2012 by neone6 | Discussion: Skinning

I made this "Tutorial" to contribute some very basic knowledge to the Community about making animations for most Stardock software.

Hopefully it will atleast inspire one or two skinners wanting to try to make animations.

-Questions will be asked and dealt with on this thread by anyone feeling compelled to do so. ALL are invited !

Good work Andy!

Too bad we don't have a "School for Skinners" Forum, or subforum.

Thank you Doc. Many "Tutorials" are quite intimidating and go in too deep from the start having the opposite effect.

I wanted to achieve a short, easy on the eye & easy to grasp "Tut".

I suppose we'll have to change your nick to 'King Tut'. Don't get too 'wrapped up' in it...

On Fig./Image 4.

10 PXL´s might be too many....3-5 maybe. You´ll see as you go,

The important thing is to make the exact same move on every frame for smoothness.

On rotating animations remember to think '360 degrees' and step the images equally so as to not have some form of 'stagger' or jump on the start of the second rotation sequence...

Couldn't be nicer !!

well my only experience is with animated icons to be use on the docks with the Animated Shortcut docklet

in this case every frame must be a perfect square,  you can also check the "zoom effect template" !

Correct. As I said This is a VERY Basic Tutorial. and things like this pointer by Jafo WILL emerge as you go along.

The main point of this Tut. is to make people understand the Basics and give it a go.
