I will not!

Monday, April 15, 2002 by treetog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I try to be the nost kind with people that e-mail me, but sometimes I feel bad wit some requests I recieve.
Some people must to forgot the magic words like "hi", "please", "thank you", etc...
They just ask all they want and they are done.
From now on, I will not reply to em-mails from people that forget that....I think that this is the minimum of someone that needs some help. =/

Don't worry Renato, we all get them. The best thing to do is just reply and move on to the next.

I know how you feel Renato, and I agree. Not replying is appropriate for the demanding tone a lot of emails have. Communication skills are a pretty basic part of social interaction. A complete lack of common courtesy and manners in a personal email requesting help from another person doesn't warrant a response at all.

You're not wrong, Renato....it can be a pain at best, and an insult at worst...

I've had a couple of "to the point" requests, and always my answer was also quite straght to the point:
-------- BEGIN QUOTE ----------

no.

-------- END of QUOTE ---------

I usually receive a truck full of insults after that, which I then choose to ignore and add the sender to my "Junk Mail Senders list".

I still get a 'You should do your skin for StylesXP cos Windows Blinds is crap' e-mail about once or twice a day. You can imagine my response to those...

Politeness is sometimes indeed a "town in Russia" (damn hard to find or unknown)
But just the other day some guy kept "banging" the LOS IRC channel to get in touch with me. ((ever heard of email Will?!) ) Finally he get hang of me and asked me with quite alot of "pleases" (not too many though), if I could do a smaller resolution of one of my HvD themes.
But anyways.... who can turn down a polite request like that?!

So all hail to the polite requesters!

Fortunately, I've been lucky up to now, everyone has been very polite when asking for help. But I probably just jinxed that for myself. I would agree with treetog, rudeness deserves nothing but rudeness.

I've had several interesting emails from various 'kids' asking for one thing or another...

I even had this email from a Counter-Strike Clan member who said I had to " Make him a new CS logo for his clan within 12 hours or he would stop visiting my site daily ".

Where the hell do these people come from?

I've only had a few requests/questions. I must say that from the few I've recieved all of them have been very polite.....lucky me I guess

I can totally agree with treetog not answering emails that are rude, or lack manners. It should be common sense to use manners when asking for a 'favour' from somebody, whether it's you best friend or a complete stranger.

I have same problem, tons of email saying I want this and that but no please on major of them. It's already hard to reply to so many emails everyday, you should not answer to those kind.
