XP & WB questions

Monday, April 15, 2002 by starone | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

When I bring up the properties box in XP it isn't skinned like it was in ME. Is this something that is not skinned now or is there a setting somewhere that will skin it?

Also, tested my new XP skin on hubby's ME and sometimes when the close button is pressed it causes an error and have to re-boot. Doesn't do it all the time, it is about 50/50. Don't know why it is doing it on his ME. It works fine on my XP (and worked fine on my ME before I upgraded to XP) and the coding is the same as I had in it when I had ME. Any ideas?

Third and hopefully last question - when you upload a skin that is XP do you just upload it to WinStyles, or do you upload it to both WinStyles and Windowblinds?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Just remembered, I have one more question dealing with the toolbar in Webblinds. Everytime I start Explorer I have to go to tools, apply in order for my toolbar to show up in Explorer. It comes up when I first load Explorer, but then goes back to showing the dialog bitmap. What do I do to stop the dialog bitmap from showing up and not have to keep going to tools, apply?

I can help you with a couple of your questions.

By default, WB is set to not skin display properties, but this can be changed by adding SkinDisplay=1 to the wb.ini file in your windows directory.

As far as uploading Xp skins. All you have to do is upload it to the Windowblinds section and check the box that states thatthe skin is optimized for XP.

The dialog bitmap would also be used on the Explorer toolbar. It turned out to be the Explorer Synchronizer that made Explorer use the dialog bitmap. Try running Explorer Synchronizer Interactive Mode, selecting "Clear any Explorer toolbar," and click OK. You should also make sure it doesn't run on startup.
