Every year and at various times through the year, I feel a deep sorrow and celebrate the lives freely given that I, my family and my friends might live in freedom.
So, again it it time to express this "Thank you" to the various members of the armed services and security forces, men and women, fathers, sons, mothers and daughters of every nation, who made that sacrifice.
Invariably, I feel inadequate for that sacrifice and vow to try to do better, and in some way fail.
Again I say, "Thank you".

I guess I shouldn't mention that some peanut extinguished the 'Eternal Flame' in our War Memorial just the other day with an extinguisher......
If he ever crossed my path I'd empty a CO2 into his crotch....[dry chem or foam just ain't cool enough]

As a retired Army man I really don't need a special day to remember those that dies to protect this country no matter what state its in. I'am happy they gave those that dies defending our way of life and sometimes I do BBQ on memorial day. This year I will, but if I do or don't, I will still off and on, have tears in my eyes. Now if someone wants to get pissed at me, I defended your right to do so.

Those of us that served, came home, picked up with our lives or retired from military service know that the one task that remains is to never let our comrades in arms ever be forgotten. We choose to do this in many ways and usually on no particular day. It remains our lasting duty to do so. This too is what their families do, where ever, when ever and how ever they chose.

This is a special holiday and nothing wrong with having a BBQ and friends over. The most important thing is to remember to thank the past and present military people for protecting us.
During my walk with my dog this morning I stopped at three homes where I knew three young people lived that were in the military. One was home on leave so I thanked him for keeping me safe and the other two I asked the father to thank their son for me. If you are out today and know or see someone that was or is in the Military, take a minute and say thanks.

This is a bloody disgrace. It is evidently the second time he has done it. However this time he has been caught on camera and according to the news reports people have come forward and identified him.
