Sunday, March 17, 2002 by Hakemon | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hi, I am making an operating system and I just ported the interface to WindowBlinds. My company is Hakemon CTS and if you want to see the simple little interface that is comming, goto my operating systems site to see what it will look like. The interface is exactly what the windowblinds version looks like. Just go to hakemoncts.8m.net/syphest.html please tell me what I can do to make my OS look better. The OS is called Syphest. Its in it's alpha stages. But I have uploaded the skin and should arrive in a day!

Great work, if this is a complete operating system, then I am very impressed. I assume that it uses parts of MS's API though (such as the COM). Any plans to build support for apps other than windows based into it?

That's quite good. I think the font would look better if it was a kind of tahoma/arial based rather than tims new roman based font.

I will try to update the font pack. I have been unable to reply to AJCrowley before, but now I can, I was having one bad lighting out. In florida. It uses the Windows kernal and parts of Win.com to work. Just to start your proof of owning windows. I am trying to put a Mac OS emulator in it on my own code so its leagle. Some linux/unix GUI software only...

There really is no OS specific emulation. Just type in the Mac OS requirement, and it will say you have so and so and will try to emulate. But the latest I see it is running is a bit of OSX. Not alot though.,.

Hakemon, it's sounding good, and I'm also pretty excited about running software from all of those different platforms. Will it be a GUI shell as in WinNT, or a CLI? It would be really neat if you could add support for CLI emulation at least (WinNT style again), with options for choosing your CLI (bash is my favourite ). If it's implementing at least part of the windows DLL interface, Cygwin should provide you with most of the emulation layer required to run bash and *nix CLI apps... Keep up the great work, and keep us posted on where you are on the dev "roadmap" (god I hate that term).

AJC.

It does not use a console. The OS is like Mac OS 8, no command line interface. But when a Mac program is run, or a windows program, it runs in the Syphest interface. My progress is not that good right now though, I ended up leaving my computer on in a lighting storm (went out to Boston Market and the sky was good then.) Parts of my HD are messed up, good thing I make backup. I have been sending these posts in the OS.

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck on sorting it.
