Can I use Icons on my website?

Am I allowed to use icons from theme packages on my company website?

Is that depend on the user who created the icon set
or can I just link back in my About area?

Please help.

You'll need permission from the author of the icons themselves.

I though so.
Mac OS Modern for example - is that something an author
did or is it the official mac os icons and he just packed them? I didn't udnerstand.

and if it's a pack, am I allowed to use it?

I did.. I'm not familier with MAC os at all, and I don't know if this are the original images and he just packed them or created by himself.

any way, I have a problem.
Is there any package you know it's free for commercial use? I want to use it for a software I did - it's like a google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com)
