Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.
It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.
New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P
Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

for all the other ladies out there? Elfkura doesn't do things for girls weighing 100 lbs and thinkin they still need to loose weight.....na uh...not doing.

Damn mint dragons... you set them down to eat later, and the next thing you know, they are frolicking in your closet trying on your shoes (OK, actually making a home out of your shoes... but still annoying). I don't really care to eat a mint dragon that has been in my shoe, so I think I will just play with them instead.

I've heard that it takes about 6-10 years to digest in your system, but as long as you haven't swallowed as many pieces of gum as I have, you should be fine.
Elfkura has probably swallowed more pieces of gum than her own age =P

You know,
I read a post Frogboy made about his son making him do something. It makes me appreciate the fact that technology today has given many parents time to spend time with their children, especially fathers. Back a decade or two back, usually fathers are too busy to spend time with their children, especially when the child's 1-10 years old....
I had my father spend time with me when I was little. Although I would've liked more of his time, I'm thankful I've been given the chance to even know my father, however little.
But today, my father's able to have more free time after work to spend time with family, a thing he hasn't been able to do in the last decade. I just regret that I had to leave and study in the States when that time for him came around.

Unfortunately, not all jobs allow you to spend a lot of time with your kids. (I'm speaking from experience since I have one). Both my husband and I work, so as soon as I come home from work, I spend the rest of the night playing with my daughter. I also devote weekends to her. It's not easy, though, because there are other things to get done.
Luckily, we live in a different situation than most. We have an "extended family" living arrangement. We built a "in-law suite" (more like a condo) on the side of our house. So, my parents and my family live all in the same house. When I'm at work, my parents take care of my daughter. I think my Dad really gets a kick out of it. He wasn't able to spend a lot of time with us when we were young, so he is making up for it my being tied around my daughters little finger. It works well for everyone involved, especially my daughter. She gets to know her Grandparents as well as her parents, and I can go to work without feeling guilty about leaving her in the hands of strangers. I guess if they could raise me, they should be able to take care of her.
Now, where did I leave my coffee?????

Take heart JavaBrain. I think that as long as the kid gets nurturing and knows she is cared for, that's the best you could give her.
My folks weren't around a whole lot when I was growing up - they were working - sometimes multiple jobs, or they had their own things going on. But the time my sister and I spent with each of them was special and we always knew that they loved us. And I know I gained a pretty strong sense of independence and self reliance.
I shudder to think of some of the adults I know of who don't have the confidence to make minor decisions for themselves without consulting Mommy or Daddy.

I have lived in many homes, and as a child, my parents haven't always been there to take care of me. If I wasn't left at my grandmother's, I'll be at my aunt's, or at a friend's house that my mother was good friends with....
At times I wished I could be with my parents like my younger brother (he was the reason why I couldn't live with them). However, looking at my younger brother and myself, I didn't hate my brother, nor do I regret the choices my parents made. They've shaped our personalities, and I've grown up to be a bit more independent and self-reliance than my younger brother ever will.
Every little bit of sacrifice works in your gain in experience, knowledge, and understanding.

Elfkura, please excuse my ignorance here, but why couldn't you live with them?
At least I don't have to worry about my daughter not getting along with a brother/sister. She is an only child and will stay that way. of course, there are also people (like my mother in law) that even say that I should feel guilty about that.
Parenting is not easy.

definetly over 300, but under 400. i think around 320.
