how do u use winstyles. i got the demo from www.stardock.com i downloaded a skin from the website (winxp skin). now how do i apply the skin??? Please help

A WinXP skin is not a winstyles skin. You need WindowBlinds to install the skin. You can download the shareware version of WindowBlinds at http://www.windowblinds.net.
Once you have WindowBlinds installed, got to your Window Display dialog and (depending on which version of Windows you're running) go to the Skins tab are the Appearance tab. From there you can install and apply the skin.
FYI: WinStyles is an application which multiple application themes can be packed into one file and applied all at once. Say you have a WinXP skin, a WinAmp skin, and a wallpaper that you always use together. WinStyles allows you to save these skins in one file and then apply them to your desktop all at once (so you don't have to manually switch the desktop wallper, then switch the winamp skin, and then switch the WinXP(WindowsBlinds) skin.

yeah it helps. But i want to know if i can make my start menu look like windows xp if i have windows ME. How can i do that? Can i do it with windows blinds? I also wanna know a good windows blinds file which looks exactly like windows xp that i what i need. Can u tell me please

Unfortunately you can't do it with using just WindowBlinds on Win ME. The WinXP skins come with two start menus, one that works for WinXP and one that works for Win ME/98/2K.
However, you can still get you desktop to look like WinXP. What you need is ObjectBar which is another problem by StarDock. ObjectBar is a customizable task bar / start menu replacement. There are quite a few WinXP themes for it on this website, and I think ObjectBar may come with some WinXP themes built in. You can find a shareware version of ObjectBar here: https://www.stardock.com/products/objectbar.
There's a really neat feature in the very latest versio ObjectBar version (though I don't think its publically available yet. I think its only an internal beta) that allows it to read the XP style task bar and start menu settings in a WinXP theme and convert it over to ObjectBar's format so that by using just a WinXP theme with WindowBlinds and ObjectBar you end up getting an XP sytle desktop. The end effect of this is that a WInXP theme skin are not only WindowBlind skins but also ObjectBar skins. But like I said, I don't think this version is currently available.

Well if your mom will upgrade your 486 to a Pentium or even Pentium Pro, it won't matter.
Some of those things you mention don't have any impact on performance either way. One of them improves performance (ObjectBar).

i wanna know with windowsblinds if u can change the start button??? Because according to the windowsblinds u can. And i also wnana know which is the best winxp skin for windows blinds i should download. I want it to look exactly like xp (topright buttons) and exlorer etc. k thanks
