I posted this article because it reminded me of me at that age. Although I never rebuilt a car I did rebuild my first engine when I was 14. They don't make rubber bands like that anymore.

Back 'in the day' we cut our teeth on 'paddock-bombs'....at the age of 13 or 14 a mate was assembling a 351 Windsor in his bedroom.... I remember all the pistons and rods laid out carefully....on old newspaper...on the floor...
Before then we'd managed to get a 100E Prefect to do 70 mph [optimistic speedo] on 3 cylinders [downhill] with 11 kids in it....
Interestingly we're all still alive....[I think]...
