Temporary folder

Am I missing something, here? Why on Earth do my Windws Blinds skin downloads always go to an obscure folder in "Windows/local settings/temporary internet files"? Is there any way I can change this? I use "IE", "Netscape", "Fastbrowser" and "Netscape 6.2", with the same result. I'm also finding that recent downloads simply won't install... Any ideas?

The idea was to have Windowblinds automatically install when people click on the download link. But that doesn't work on my computer, as it doesn't seems to work for some others too. The only solutoin to this is to right-click and select "Save target as", then choose where you want the file downloaded to on your computer.

Never thought of that! Doh! I DID try right-clicking and downloading with DAP, but got weird filenames. Thanks for that, Paxx! All I have to figure, now, is why they don't seem to be installing properly.. It makes the relevant directory, but leaves it empty. Does this, whether it's a "Zip" file, or a "wba" one... Weird, huh?

Katzy - WB won't auto install for me either... But if want to fix the download problem just edit the wbload filetype and check confirm after download. The same can be done for Winzip. I think Winzip made it default in 8.1!

Thanks, guys! I cleaned all the crappy skins out and reinstalled. Files now download and I install them manually. All sorted! thanx!

Okay, now they d/l ok thanks to you. And I get them into a directory using Winzip8, but I have no idea how to install them. Manually...how? I would appreciate help. Thanks,

Sandra - No problem! I assume you have installed the Windowblinds program. If not you can get it here:

Now right click on your desktop and choose properties. This opens the display properties window. You should see a "skins" tab at the top. Click that and you will see your available skins. To load up a new one click the "add" button and you will see a box open. Navigate to the folder where you placed the .wba file, double click on the file and it will add to your personal library. Now highlight the skin and click apply. That should about do it. Have fun.

Bill --thank you. I don't have a skin tab, but I was able to load new ones from the file where they were kept. But only the ones I d/l after I did as was suggested. Wonder why I don't have the tab. Why is it only in the classic style that one can do this. I like the new style better.

If you have XP, you won't see a "skin" tab, but an "Appearance" tab. All your skins should be listed in the first dropdown list; you can click on the Add button to browse to the new sin you want to install.
