I Propose.....

Please?

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 by RedneckDude | Discussion: OS Customization

I would just absolutely love it if anyone would care to get SydneySiders' permission to make a dream from this awesome piece of art.

Can't do anything about making a dream out of the image for you, but I can tell you that the image itself is pretty standard Surrealism. If you like that, you should check out some of the original Surrealists. Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Yves Tanguy, Dorothea Tanning, Max Ernst and Giorgio de Chirico (though de Chirico was not a Surrealist, his Metaphysical paintings were a big influence on some of the Surrealists) to name a few.

Originally, Surrealism started off as a form of Automatic Painting, much like Automatic Writing which is were the writer does not try to form/control sentences, paragraphs, etc, but rather, they just write what comes into their head. It evolved into paintings that had dreamlike or hallucinative qualities to them, and as such, contained symbolism that was strange and generally personal to the artist. For obvious reasons, Siegmund Freud's work was pretty popular with them.

Modern Surrealism is okay, but it tends not to have the symbolism and can sometimes be 'weird for wierd's sake'. Quite often you'll find that it's based on something that one of the original Surrealists did.

Something new, a Redneck proposal that doesn't involve a shotgun wedding.

I'll bet Peggy2 could do an awsome Dream Scene with this , IMHO.

of course RnD..... though I had permission from Ausvet to use his pic for the wall/logon.... I don't know if that permission transfers over to another piece of work... would have to check with Jafo for that one...   I tried emailing Ausvet after he left on the only email address I had for him from a while back and had no reply... so if another permission from him was needed.... it's probably not gonna happen...

OK, I couldn't resist. That picture looks so cool I had to try it myself. So, what do you think and would this one be a candidate for DeskX?

LizMarr, I meant a dream, not DesktopX.  Deskscapes.

While that is an awesome wall, I like the spilling out effect over the splashing out effect.

Lol. I figured I made the mistake on my own. Now my poor mind is composing ones with my roses, perhaps some horses, maybe a water fall. Thanks for the idea and I'm reserving mine by the other artist now.

I'm showing off again. I have these totally crappy rodeo shots taken from too far away on a mix bright day. A couple just lend themselves to experimenting in spite of the grain. Too bad you can't animate dust.

You can in a 3d software package like Cinema 4D with particles.

Jim...It might take me a little while since I haven't had a lot of free time due to work, but I'll give it a shot.

Edit: LizMarr...I really like the "Rodeo-Bustin' Out" wall, you should upload it to the gallery.

Whoa, at $3,695.00 I could paint them in one at a time. That's more than our household income for several months.

Blender is free, but I've read that it has a veeery steep learning curve.

I got it and was staring at it - didn't touch anything mind you - but was staring at it. It kinda looks like Hexagon (which I've only stared at too) Both are intimidating in my mind.  I couldn't figure out how to insert a photo. So I gave up for now. Some things I'm brilliant. Other things I gotta think about it a while to finally "get" it. Like most jokes.
