Updating skins

I see that some skin authors are abusing of the right of updating theirs skins, making it in regular bases, even not justifing in the description, why the skins were updated, just to keep their skins always in the newest additions, to reiceve more downloads.
Of course this is not directed to averyone who sometimes makes some well made updates to really fix bugs or emproove their skins, but the persons that I'm talking too, will know who they are.
I know that recognition, being in the top 10 or wherever, is fine, is nice, but if you act like that, you are distorcing the thruth in your favor, so, please, let's keep a fair play to the other skinners.
Again, please note that I'm talking just to the ones that are abusing, wich for sure, are not the most part of skinners, but a few ones.

Don't update your skin or wallpaper without there being a very good reason. It should only be if you have made a major change, as treetog said, or fixed a bug. Even then it should only happen infrequently. It's hard for us to tell if there's been a change made to justify the update but if we have to we'll start asking for updates to be documented as to the changes.
The update function is only there to allow for improvements in your work, not to move the same piece to the front of the list.

Then make an option so that it *doesn't* move it to the top. I've been asking for this for quite a bit. I'm now afraid to make an update for fear of being called a d/l-grabber. This has to be solved.

TheGreenReaper: As I said above, needed updates are welcome, don't be afraid of doing that if needed. The abusing ones are wellknown by all admins here and we are sure they know who they are.

The authors that making skins, from one skin to another, are improving their skills and they are more experienced. This experience make them able to find out bugs that they didn’t noticed before, so it is natural to update their skins, 'cause many people are using them and they don't know how to fix the skin them selves.
Personally, I notice the problems from the e-mails that I get from the people that are using my skins or from some comments I get in the "Skin comments". From that moment and on, I am trying to fix the problem as soon as possible, 'cause everyday many people are downloading the skin with the existing problem included and this fact doesn’t make me feel all right.
So, don't you think, that if any author knows a problem and also knows how to fix it, that he must do it immediately, if he has a time, otherwise he is defaming he's name and the program that he supports with he's skin?

I don't think most people realize how extreme the abuse can be of that.
We're not talking someone updating their skin every week or two. We're talking people who update their skin daily for weeks on end with no noticeable change or mention in their submission as to what's been updated.

No, all that is needed is a legitimate explanation in the updated note with the skin, explaining what and why there was an update....bug-squashing is fine.....species-eradication is OTT....
