Windows Live Communications Platform had encountered an error and should close

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 by neophil78 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Hi there,

There's a glitch between WB (well at least WB 7.31 build 99) and Windows live programs (Messenger & Live Mail at least) under XP SP3 which brings an error message :

"Windows Live Communications Platform had encountered an error and should close" (well probably something like that but in french)

I've spend hours thinking it was a firewall and /or A/V or .NET framework or so, trouble but it's not, and even in adding those progs totally exclude in the  Per Application settings, the error message still goes and it's impossible to use the progs ... The only way is to set WB with "Windows XP style (Microsoft) or to unload WB

Does anyone got this ?? Would be much appreciate to get a fix for it .

And i give the "auto support"     if anyone else has this trouble :

That's mainly "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts\wlcomm.exe" which has to be excluded from WB in the Per Application settings.

Well it's surely better to put in it also Messenger & Windows Live Mail, but it's wlcomm.exe which is responsable of the silly error message.

Hours of work to find this way ... Did i win anything ?

Yeah, you win something. The permission to go get an OS of this millennium.
That'll solve alot of your issues.

My little finger tells me it's not only MY issues (which in fact are not, after the solution ... ) ... and my other little finger tells me XP - great OS of this millenium - will be still better than Windows 8

BTW, if you're OK to buy me as much Seven's (and new PC's to go with) as i get PC's it's up to you
