Known fullversion crackz of stardocks' products...

Tuesday, December 18, 2001 by Amerasu | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

When I bought the object desktop package it was "optional" for me. I wanted to put some money into their work since I love skinning programs and OSes and so forth.

At the time, however, there was a site which I went to pretty regularly which has full version crackz of most of stardocks' products available for d/l.

Most software companies I know of I really don't give a *cough* about (ie MS). But stardock I have actually come to cherish.

So my question is, is it wrong not to rat on a warez site which provides stardocks' products in fullversion cracked form?

In my opinion its not wrong. I mean YOU know one site...someone knows another...someone else knows another...and the list keeps going. Theres a whole lot more sites with them than just one so briging up one site wouldn't really have any effect.

Yes, it is wrong.

And jb, the reason there are so many warez sites is because no one does anything about them.

Ash Haldane: I'm pretty sure I know the site you are talking about... and I'm also pretty sure that it will never go down, ever.

If it is the one I think it is the owners move the address of it every week and are extremely dedicating in keeping it up and running, it's pointless trying to stop warez sites one at a time.

To be honest, I believe it will always be around as long as software is, or at least until something very radical is done to change the way software is bought, maintained and operated.

The sensible thing to do perhaps, would be to [privately] contact Stardock to check whether they were aware of the site so that appropriate action [if any] could be taken.

Call it a 'morally correct' thing to do, or maybe your 'Good Deed for the year'....

Semantics aside I payed just yesterday for CursorXP even though I thought it ought to be included for download through the Component Manager and my "one year subscription".

However, I agree with Hell Dragon that this site will probably never go down, regardless of anyone's feelings or lost profits for the reasons HD mentioned.

All I feel I can really do is simply keep $upporting stardock and spreading the word about skinning.

Sorry for putting the stick in the proverbial anthill.
