Nasty Online Scams You Need to Be Aware Of
Saturday, March 17, 2012 by mrs_starkers | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I was reading this and thought that I would share this.
Internet scams have been around for years, but the Federal Trade Commission’s recent crackdown on robocallers pushing car warrantees has put a spotlight on the thousands of tactics used by scammers to bilk Americans out of millions.
So why are they so successful?
One of the keys to scammers' success is a constant flow of unsuspecting victims. Another, experts say, is that scammers are targeting specific demographics, whether it's by age, race or sex.
“The problem now is that so much information is available on the Internet,” FBI spokesman Richard Kolko told FOXNews.com. “Before [scammers] might have known your name. Now they [can access] your name, address, place of employment and parents’ names, because it is all readily available.”
And as fast as investigators try put a stop to the schemes, scammers are reinventing their tricks and staying one step ahead of authorities and the public.

I must be the luckyl one as haven't had very much trouble and have been on since the Commodore 64 days. Maybe i'm to old and they think i'm dead. I do all my banking on line and many things. The real fact is I don't worry about all that stuff, keep my cpmoputer protected as much as possible and take it one minute at a time. Only time I have to be real careful is when I go on the XXX sites.

I know it's not on topic but it is some what
talk about car warranties it's not just the internet it's the car salesmen to as they will try to get you to buy
the Extended Warranty that if not all at lest 80% will do you no good as it runs side-by-side with the manufactures warranty
and try to get you to but the under coat .. that you don't need as the manufacture already dips the cars in a rust/salt protection

Been online for a little over five years and got banged only once. Other than that...nope. Don't even worry about those XXX sites. I leave that up to other people to do. lol

The truth is, you're more likely to get an infection from music oriented sites than you are from XXX sites... as one of my nephews learnt the hard way.
So, you're telling me that you're not the Uvah who keeps commenting about the jubbly bits in the big boob section?

Well I always figured it was those types of sites. I'm not into music and never visit the sites. i'm on Facebook everyday to look around but have never downloaded any games to play or anything you have to join other then be a FB member. Guess my life is kind of quite.

And more's the pity. No one needed them in the old days, and even less, now.
